Not sure what you mean, as 'equestrian' can be almost anything, including a 2 bed Woolaway with a small yard, but thanks; we had a super day.
    !

Oh I agree...its just people seem to think its worth more if its got two undersized stables and the word equestrian in it! For us, even with the horses, equestrian properties are very por value, as the traditional stabling is not suitble for our purpose and yet seem to carry this 'premium'. Farm buildings are far more useful to us!

I'm glad it was a good day out!

Ours was a confusing day. Many things of this piece of land are lovely. Despitre not being in love with the locality as I am where I am now, its a good locatuion, good transport into London, and a nice local town. The landscape, is acceptably nice, but there are two, major roads, and a motorway, bordering the property and I'm just not sure if we can cope with the noise level this would bring. Its not my 'dream' plot. The noise for one thing, is a big issue. I'm going back on Wednesday with the agent to ask some fairly big questions about things that I think might have been happening with the land and that would have significant cost implications.

Davesnave, are you up for a PM talk on sanity and land usage?:o

OK....well....those of you that offered advice and moral support by PM on the latest one, we spent a considerable part of this afternoon sitting bang in the middle of the plot gauaging if we could cope with the Sunday afternoon back to London traffic noise.

    We can't.

We loved the layut of the and on this one, and the services in place were good. I could have coped with the other comprimises because what was good was very good, but the road noise became increasingly a fear.

We are both musicians, as are lots and lots of our friends. One of the things we love about living in the Sticks is we have friends over and play outside in the summer, without disturbing anyone. We do have neighbours, but they are musicians too....sometimes we all play together in our respective gardens.....anyway, I think the road noise competing with us would eventually grind us down.

Back to the drawing board....again. :(

Between DH and I...pretty much everything, lol.....we come from different musical backgrounds, but met through music when both recording 'bits and bobs' for the same person.

DH was actually reasonably successful as a f/t musician before deciding to convert to law...I wasn't successful at all, lol, but never really tried to be either. I did a lot of stuff as a kid, but decided in my teens fulltime ''performance'' in anysphere was not for me. :o and once it became a hobby it became fun again. :)

I had some piano lessons for a year, when I was about 9. The old fella was about 90 and he'd give me an hour's lesson for 2/6d and a cheese sandwich. Then we moved and it was too far for him to cycle and other teachers wanted more than 2/6d and a sandwich, so that was the end of that.

I was quite good too, sort of.

You could play something now Pastures? Lots of adults have more commitment and enjoyment. DH is teaching one of his colleagues, and is amazed at how quickly the chap is learning. :)

I spent years playing in bands. My Dad was the one who encouraged it as he would have loved to learnt to play but he was from a large family and they could not afford lessons. One of the best things he ever did for me.

I made many friends from it, made money and played some great gigs. Never quite did make the big time but had a lot of fun.

In the 80`s I was performing anything up to 5 times a week.

So was I, but not in a band! After all, I was only in my 30's then....

Actually, I was in two bands as singer, as it was the job nobody wanted, and I'm not a musician. We were rubbish x2, but I enjoyed it anyway, especially after the interval and several more pints....

Anyway, what I meant to say was that I'm so glad LIR & DH have made that decision. I have tinnitus, (see above!) but even with that I really appreciate a quiet environment. No idyll, rural or otherwise, would measure up if marred by noise.

DW and I have almost made a similar decision. We saw somewhere last week that was very close to 'the dream,' (the land certainly was) but other factors have ruled it out, I think. In our case the location was slightly remote and neighbours on both sides and in the nearby village don't use English as their language of choice....(We lurked outside the primary school at kick out time!)

My middle son would love to be in a band, I currently pay (ouch maybe I shouldn't admit this!) for him to have drumming lessons via his school but he also appears to be pretty talented on a keyboard too.

He's not got a bad voice either, he has already won in competitions for it...I would link you to the youtube video but I realised afterwards that you can hear me singing too!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
