    i've just tried this.

i made a plain iced tray bake earlier so i had something to go with the custard. And although it wasn't as i remembered at school. it really was rather plesent. there was bit too much blamange. so i've put some into little ramikins and kids can have them tomoz or i can. hubby wasn't too keen but i think he will like the chocolate one.

i'm glad i bought quite a few boxes of blamange when tesco were selling it at 17p. i've got loads. now have a new idea to use them up with. fantastic.

Part of the Furniture 10 Posts Combo Breaker
    yum- cornflake cake
    eves pudding
    marble cake and mint custard
those biscuits with a blob of jam in the middle
the massive jam sponge thing with coconut over the top
    cheese and onion flan

does anyone know what the difference between a flan and a quiche is anyway???

nice to see we all remember the puddings rather than the main meal!!

by the time I got to secondary school we had a healthy side and the normal school dinner side, by the time we got to 14, we realised that we could have a massive plate of beans and grated cheese???? for 20p and leave the rest of our 50p to buy to buy 5 cigarettes from the ice cream man that used to lurk outside our school:eek:

i asked my mum today if she remembered school puddings and she said her fav's where choc sponge with mint custard and big shortcake biscuits with pink custard.

i said i'd made the pink custard after reading on here , my mum was chuffed to bit's. she is gonna try it now. she didn't realise it was somethign as simple as that.

if my mum could work a pc she would love this thread. instead i'll just keep telling her things, lol.

Had a dream that included jam roly poly last night. Guess what we are having for pudding today! Not with pink custard though, just straight forward yellow!:j :j :j
  • I had great school dinners like:
    Gypsy tart
    Angle tart
    Pink custard
    Choclate cruch (concrete)
    Flan
funny little salard with Apple & cress
    Cheese and potato pie
    Sausage brade
    Lemon tart
    short bread with jam
    Jamy rolypoly
Alway tradtional meals nothing exotic like rice or pasta let alone curry.

Funny how i can remeber the desserts more than the main dish.....
