Like I said I don't want to slate people but I wish supermarkets would have offers on better quality meat to kick start people buying proper food!
Anyway rant over as some people don't seem to like opinions other than theirs!

I didn't say you were being critical, patronising perhaps but not critical, especially when you say you have purchased value chickens "to see what it tastes like" but you rant away :rolleyes:0 -

As I said you just did not like someone pointing out that there is more to food than simply the cost.
I do hope the post helps some people but just wish there would be more better quality foods on offer, that is all!
I have purchased value chicken (not chickens) one pack was more than enough for me!And may I ask what yours has with the OP, Andrew?
does the quality go down when the price has been reduced??Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

For anyone who is interested this site tells you a little about the 'Red Tractor' (and other) marks on meat and poultry etc.
This is not a dig at anyone, but I do think there is quite a lot of confusion over what marks mean what, so it might be useful for those who are interested!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I think Andrew can speak for himself...
and I was pointing out what his post has to do with the OP0 -

Actually I was genuinely wondering where the point comes when, instead of thinking 'that's cheap, great' you think 'that's cheap, why?'.0

I think that if the likes of tesco and asda had offer's on their free range chickens, i think there is still alot of people who wouldn't buy them unless the offer bought the price of it down to below that of a caged chicken.
Personally i buy whatever is cheapest, i accidently bought a free range chicken it would be simply because it was cheaper for some reason, whoopsied or on offer etc.
As for 50p chickens, if somewhere starts doing them, sign me up for 10.
To the OP ... thanks for the info hun, i'll be poping down to tesco on my way home.
Conjured up some strange images for me.:D
Do you dress up in all the robes and bless people as you go?;)0 -
interesting discussion. I used to buy "cheap" chicken, usually supermarket brands never the basic range though as they look disgusting. Personally I now only buy free range chicken from my local butcher or farm. i find the quality and taste of the chicken is so much nicer. I also understand feeding a family on a budget and don't have any problem with what other people buy that is entirely their choice to do so.0
