I just wish shops would stop pushing crap chicken and have more offers on better quality (in taste AND welfare terms!).
I think people will start to forget what a properly reared chicken actually tastes like!
I agree about not slating those who feel they cannot afford anything better but I chose to vote with my feet (and we are not well off but I prefer to eat less meat of a better quality!).

    So why post?

You are voting with your feet so perhaps don't even look at such a thread if it affects your sensibilities?

Thank you to the OP, I'll have a look in Tesco today.

Well the thread is called 'Tesco whole chicken £3' and my comments relate to that :o.
I am not being critical of anyone who purchases the £3 chicken, what I am saying is that I wish Tesco would have some offers on the better quality chicken, instead of the inferior quality stuff!
I have purchased value chicken in my time, to see what it was like, it tasted ok but nothing special. I just find now that better quality stuff is actually better value in the long run.
Please don't assume that just because someone expresses a slightly different view that they are not entitled to that view!

I do wonder how cheap a chicken would have to be before people questioned its quality?

    How about a 50p chicken?

As well as questioning the quality should we not also question the producers (they used to be called farmers I think!) and how they make a living ?
Like I said I don't want to slate people but I wish supermarkets would have offers on better quality meat to kick start people buying proper food!
Anyway rant over as some people don't seem to like opinions other than theirs! :p

I think that if the likes of tesco and asda had offer's on their free range chickens, i think there is still alot of people who wouldn't buy them unless the offer bought the price of it down to below that of a caged chicken.

Personally i buy whatever is cheapest, i accidently bought a free range chicken it would be simply because it was cheaper for some reason, whoopsied or on offer etc.

As for 50p chickens, if somewhere starts doing them, sign me up for 10.

To the OP ... thanks for the info hun, i'll be poping down to tesco on my way home.
