Daily mail as a quality source??!!

Is anyone else surprised by the number of posts that use the daily mail as their source?
Yet many more reputable sources are just viewed as biased (which they may be, but at least they don;t make money from selling that news and therefore have a vested intersted in making it dramatic!).
No wonder this board is full of sensationalists!

I love the Daily Mail! I buy it on Saturdays (for the TV Guide), and it's one of the websites that I visit daily. But I do find it sensationalist, dishonest, bit chy, and biased. But so are a lot of the tabloids.
The paper that I would trust most is the Financial Times, but it's not quite as fun!
Which more reputable sources don't make money from selling news? (Genuine question, am interested in your thoughts).

Forget bias and disclosure, more importantly it's produced by illiterate cretins incapable of writing to a professional standard. Or backing up an assertion with logic, evidence and citations rather than more assertions.
Disclosure: I read the Mail on Sunday magazine when I visit me mum. Sometimes it's that or EastEnders, what can you do?0 -

The BBC
The Guardian doesn't have to make money, just stay solvent, as it's owned by a trust rather than shareholders/owners.0 -
The Daily Mail is referred to as the Daily Nazi in my workplace.

I'm not a big fan of the Mail (or Express, Sun or Star for that matter), but how can anyone know whether the news is biased or not unless they read widely from across all sources? Surely all news sources have their own agenda, whether owned by a magnate or a trust.
Plus all news sources will occasionally get a scoop, or just notice something the other papers don't pick up on.
Don't want to buy them? Go to the library and read them for free - a great way to get the wider take on the economy and very MSE.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? What I'm surprised by is that today's Mail on Sunday is giving away a free Pet Shop Boys CD, given their recent crusade against all things homosexual. I don't know about the Mail, all I can say is that in every instance when they've reported on a story of which I have personal knowledge, their reporting has been the next best thing to complete fiction. I therefore no longer get worked up about any of the other stories, since induction has led me to believe the same thing probably applies.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0

I read the Mail at my parents house when I visit....mum has started to hide it away from me now as I get so annoyed with some of the views!:DWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

What is it with parents and The Mail? Do you think we'll reach a certain age and suddenly the Mail buying biorhythm will kick in?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
