  • I have just been reading through your thread and it just goes to show that there is hope for us all. 2010 is the year I want to get out of DEBT and you have given me inspiration. Thanks and have a great 2010
    Make £10 a day challenge - January 2023 = £292.89/£310 - Feb 2023 = £677.09/280 - March 2023 = £102.45/£310 - April = £300.12/300 - May 2023 = £306.80/£310 - June = £245.88/£150 - July = £295.45/£310 - August 2023 £51.56/£310
  • Thanks all. Feel we slightly cheated with paying our debt off by selling the house but we were intending on moving areas before we had our LBM only difference now is we are renting rather than owning but hopefully that wont be the case for too long.

Well 1 debt has been paid in full. There is a reason behind not going for a reduced payment on this one but its not one of the biggest ones so it's not been too painfull.

Going to enjoy seeing the back of 2009 tonight. Hope everyone has a great new years.

Will report back in Jan with who has accepted lower final settlement figures.

  • Ou F&F letters have gone out, so far we have only heard back from 4.

M&S we offerred to pay 40% of the debt they wrote back and rejected this but said they will accept 50%. So chq has been sent to them.

CL Finance who had my Debenhams CC rejected our 40% offer as well and have offered us a 10% reduction meaning they are looking for 90% of the debt to be paid. So no further forward on this.

We have 2 debts with 1st credit again offerred 40% on both, this was rejected although they will offer us 30% reduction on one of the debts and 50% of the other. awaiting this in writing but unlikley we will go with the 30% reduction.

All other creditors have not replied to us yet.

Wanted to say to folks that if you had an MBNA account please check on your credit file when they defaulted you. We had 2 accounts with them and on checking my paper work they gave us until the end of jan 09 to pay the arrears or we would be defaulted after this date however credit file shows that infact they defaulted us December 09 1 month before they said they would. We are going to fight them and try and get these defaults removed.

Will continue to update this thead when we hear from more creditors.

  • M&S accepted 50% as F&F
1st Credit on 1 of the accounts accepted 50%
Moorcroft accepted 25% reduction on a loan we had

As for the rest well its a long drawn out battle.

Our 2nd account with 1st is now in dispute. They were only offerring a 30% reduction so we have CCA'd them and this has resulted in the account being on hold (according to them) they are in default of the 12+2 by 2 weeks and I have sent the appropriate letter to them

All other creditors we have slightly increased our offers and are sitting waiting on their replys.

So out of 9 creditors we have paid off 4.
