I'll do combofix in a lil bit, i've got to catch up on comps xxx
Shall i just post u my lappy so u can bounce it off the wall?

    xxx

You can take a pic of you hitting it with a sledgehammer if you like :p

Problems like these can either be fixed by throwing anti virus programs at them, or going through it with a fine tooth comb and fixing it manually (Much harder)

Personally id backup the data you want and wipe the drive and start afresh. But as you dont have the original operating disc (I think thats what you said?), that ideas out the window anyways

Id guess your hard drive is fine. Just wants formatting and either the operating system putting on and starting afresh or (in your case) using the backup discs

As a band aid measure, i've changed the power saving methods, so only an actual shutdown will turn off lappy, it wont go to sleep and if lid down that again will trigger nothing, switched off screensaver, so i can at least get through the day and do my comping without having to use many swear words and threatening acts of violence to lappy xxx
