We ordered our kitchen from Homebase, we ordered slightly too much work surface and they took it back and gave us a refund for it, thought that was quite good. Everything turned up on time aswell :)

how did you pay for it? if by credit card, ring the company and tell them you have not received the goods, and that there is no date by when you will receive them.

worst case is the credit card company will have to refund your money.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?
  • Thanks everyone.

I was contacted by the delivery firm today, they have advised that the order will be delivered on Saturday.

They will phone tomorrow with details of when to expect it.

Saturday is the tenth and final day I had given Homebase to get my order to me when I contacted them last week

    So fingers crossed it arrives

  • Well it is now after 9pm on Friday night and I have still not heard back from Wincanton regarding delivery tomorrow :(:(:(

I really thought it might have been third time lucky for delivery

I guess I am just not meant to have this bathroom suite

    It is most frustrating

Next step is recorded delivery letter to Homebase for breach of contract (if goods do not arrive tomorrow).

Anyone have any advice for my letter

Sorry I dont normally moan this much :o

  • Phoned Wincanton just now.

I was advised that they had unsuccessfully tried to contact me on Thursday. I explained that their operator had left voicemail and I had returned the call when she was on lunch. However another operator had advised me that it had been booked in for Saturday and that someone would call me on Friday to advise me what time to expect delivery.

She advised me it would not be possible to deliver today......

Am now on phone to Homebase........
    :grouphug:
  • It is possible Wincanton are lying about when they received the order, bunch of cowboys if you ask me. They made a delivery to my work once and got me the paperwork and realised the van was empty, all the way from England.

Wincanton are Providers of specialist logistical and distribution services, so in effect just White Van Removal Men.

Your contract however, is with Homebase. I would point out that you are very unhappy about being messed about (tell them you phoned them and were quoted the lead delivery time of 4-6 weeks (this is standard, just say you didnt get the name of the person you spoke to).

Get the phone number of Wincanton, phone them and ask them to find out where on the road your delivery is, all drivers have mobile phones and can easily be contacted on the road. Be very persistent. Keep phoning them every hour until they get so fed up they bend over backwards to help you.

Then when you get your order, before you sign for it, check it considerably for missing parts, damages and be prepared to knock it back if you arent happy.

Speaking from advise. Hope you get it today though, fingers crossed, fight for some kind of compensation for all the calls and days you have had to stay off work, even go so far as to say you have a plumber/joiner booked in for today as you were PROMISED saturday.
  • Homebase have advised me that it will now be delivered on Thursday. They have contacted Wincanton and were given various excuses regarding my delivery.

I simply do not have time this weekend to order another bathroom.....so I will give them one final chance.

Have been advised will get compensation and this will be discussed after the order has been delivered.

I was very polite to the Homebase staff, the operator even commented how calm I was considering the situation, he asked how can you still be laughing? Explained it was that or crying

I am not holding my breathe for delivery/compensation
    :grouphug:
  • You can ask for compensation and be polite too, it isnt rude, remember you probably paid four times the cost price of the bathroom suite, did you get any money off?

Phone them up and say you will cancel the order today if they do not discount the order back to your card. Be positive, you are entitled to compensation (once you get their name, they will bend over backwards to help you, trust me)

I explained to the manager that I was talking to today, that I simply do not have room for a bathroom to be sitting in my house doing nothing. So I have now had to cancel the plumber on two occassions and doubt very much they will want to book me in a third time.

I really dont have time to deal with this this weekend, so will see what happens on Thursday...then deal the matter by letter to head office.

I was advised by Homebase that the goods were in Darlington or Rugby, explained that I am in Scotland and that have been advised on three occassions now that my goods are there

Suggested that they get the goods to my nearest Homebase store and get a local delivery firm to deliver them from there as that is still two hours from my address.

    The saga goes on......

Am going to push for the maximum compensation I can get :p

Homebase are quite smart in not offering compensation at theis stage. It is somehing that the company i work for also advise us to do.

If they give you a figure for compensation now,say £100, and there is further problems, you would expect further compensation. Where as if they offer £100 at the end, there iw no risk of having to offer more.
