What does the letter say that you got when you were flashed? Does it say that you were flashed going through a red light? What is its reasons for prosecuting or what traffic offence does it say?Weight Loss - 102lb0

Not a very pleasant experience, I agree. But, unfortunately, the law is the law and youw ill be the one prosecuted if you break it. It is the two wrongs (assuming the other party was going to do a wrong to you?) do not make a right. You cannot plead self defence.
On the original query the NIP is clearly wrong. Provide the info required BUT DO NOT offer any other information regarding the fact they have got the details on the NIP incorrect. If you have to, go to court and plead not guilty. The police will then have to prove you were where they say you were. They will produce the photo as evidence. Then ask them to provide details of where the camera is precisely located. They will then confirm it is where you were flashed. You then produce the paperwork to say the location where the offence was allegedly committed was 60 miles away and not where they are now suggesting. The magistrates will have no alternative but to dismiss the charge. As Bossyboots suggests, try and drag it out for 6 months and then tell them. You will not then even have to go to court.

i had something similar about 15 years ago when i got stopped by hte police for sppeding . when the summons came they had put something like offence commited at X time whenin fact it had happened 12 hours later . union paid for me to see solicitor but they said admin error ....tough. you may get other advice ( legal brains ) but i was told life isn't like petrocelli by the lawyer... your evidence that you was elsewhere is a camera taking your vehicle registration commiting an offence0

The summons has to be right. You were not guilty of the offence stated on the summons if the time was wrong.
We had a spate of successfully defendant speeding summons in our area a few years ago when the wrong traffic order was quoted on the summons as being in force at the time of the offence on the road in question.0 -
legally, I think you should fight this. You were not guilty of the crime they accuse you of - i.e. you were not going through a red light in town x, as you were in town y at the time. The fact that you happened to go through a red light while in town y is neither here nor there legally!
I would write and tell them that you weren't in town x, so can't ahve committed the crime they claim. Although, be prepared that they may realise their mistake - but don't offer them the information that you did go through a red light and they just got the town wrong - let them work that out!
Let us know how it goes
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!
