    *update*

well, i opened the letters - i got a friend to come over to help me and then i got letters sent out to the various DCAs explaining i was made reduntant, and enclosed a copy of my recent SOA. I asked for debt to be frozen with no payments for 3 mths as my SOA showed a negative figure after my income (JSA) had all my bills subtrcted from it

Those were posted recorded delivery on 26th March. Only got 2 replies back - Wescot no longer hold my debt and will pass on my correspondance.

shoosmiths sent a letter saying they needed x amount per month to stop all action. This was dated 2nd April and i got it last week.

Today i have received a claim from from Northampton County Court. Well, they don't waste any time do they

This hasn't frightened me as much as it once would have. But my question is now, how to i get this moved to a court nearer me? I'm in Suffolk!

  • Have you tried calling one of the free debt helplines?

You have nothing to lose by doing so.

Take control - better for you to be in the driving seat, not nice being a passenger. You can do it and you'll sleep sounder for doing so.

Wish you all the very best.

  • Hi Scaredy_cat,

I'm just starting out on this road too. Will be sending back my forms to the CCCS on Monday (could have done it today but didn't - I'm already starting to hold back!). So well done on going through your post and sorting it :)

I don't think a CCJ is anything to be worried about - I worried myself too, but then I thought if I' paying what I can afford and can show how I budgeted for everything, then no court is going to make me pay more than I can afford so I stopped worrying :) Easier said than done I know.

I'm not sure if the rules are different if you are on JSA - I'm sure someone more knoweldgeable will be along to help.

Erm, what am I trying to say?! Don't worry - you've taken a positive step and the folks on here will offer help and advice all they way.

    Cheers.

unfortunanately, i don't think i can go on a dmp as i at the moment i'm only getting JSA so i don't have any money to go to debts.

I am thinking of making an appt at CAB.

    Who is the claimant?

How much is the debt for?

    How old is the debt?
