You will need to have evidence of the value of the item...and i bet once they see the address it was going to they will know what you were sending.

PS Neither of my recorded delivery items sent to CPW/E2save on the 10th and 14th February respectively are showing as delivered yet either.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. managed to speak to someone at royal mail CS who actually seemed to know what he is talking about - apparently it would take too long to get each individual item of RD mail signed for by CPW staff at point of delivery as they apparently have sacks full at any one time to deliver - therefore royal mail hand over all mail plus delivery docket and CPW staff sign for delivery on docket as they open each letter - docket then returned to royal mail who eventually update their system with delivery details - it all sounds pretty unsatisfactory to me as its not really what your paying royal mail for but it certainly explains why it takes an age for items to show as delivered on royal mail website0

This is not satisfactory at all, although I do know that Royal Mail do this.
I don't take their point that just because CPW and the like have hundreds of letters a day that they leave the dockets with them to sign. CPW & Co are then at liberty not to sign for them at all. what if they have hundreds of Special Delivery letters a day to sign for? What then?
I still feel that people should register their dissatisfaction with this behaviour at Royal Mail with Postcomm, the regulator.0 -
i would phone e2save/cpw and check if they have got it. i was about to do this myself as my claim also shows as still having not been delivered on the RM website but i did receive a text from e2save to say they received it...haven't received the second txt to confirm the cheque is on the way so i will phone them to make sure.0

decided to take the email to cpw route - within an hour i had text to each phone saying claim received and would be processed within 30 days - still not showing as delivered on royal mail website - at least i'll get 12 first class stamps for royal mail delay as comp0

Neither of my claims sent recorded in early February are showing as delivered. I've phoned Royal mail who claim not to have had any other complaints at all about items sent to the CPW/E2save address, apparently any claims or compensation claimed would have been logged and I am the first !
I have received a text from CPW about one of my claims, so that should be OK, but nothing yet on the second. I have tried calling E2save but they say their records don't update very quickly so can't help, but as I am near to my 30 days claim window I might want to resubmit.
Blooming nuisance.

When multiple items are delivered frequently to businesses all recordeds will be grouped together and one docket will be signed with all the recorded delivery barcode labels attached to the docket0 -

I agree with stevexx here.
You paid Royal Mail for a service, they are duty bound to provide that service.
If CPW want to see/open every letter before signing for it then Royal Mail should not leave the docket with them. CPW should either sign immediately or Mr. Postie should wait. And I also believe that Registered and Special delivery items should be segregated from the ordinary post.I have a cunning plan!

now 3 weeks since i sent claims ( or 15 days in royal mail world - only business days count) - it appears if i fill in form p58 at post office royal mail will deem to investigate loss of mail within 4 weeks - when i mentioned refund of charges or compensation was told '' we dont usually offer refund or compensation on recorded delivery'' - so you pay them for a service, they completely fail to deliver it and they keep your money - not a bad way to run a business - any ideas where to from here re complaint/compensation etc0

This may be so in the case of documents which have no real value, but in the case of items sent then it is not so and Royal Mail should offer compensation upto £30. I suggest that you contact Postcomm about this. I have done so already, not because I have had a problem personally, but because I feel that Royal Mail are not properly carrying out a specific service and I feel that they should be reprimanded for it and they should undertake for the future to obtain a signature at the point and time of delivery. This is what Royal Mail promise and nothing less will do.
It appears that a lot of Recorded Signed for mail is being regarded as lost to their system. It is my belief that this is so becasue they cannot be bothered to obtain a signature for the mail they have actually delivered. It is not a satisfactory arrangement and the general public are not getting what they have elected to pay for.
Below is an extract from Royal Mail:
"In the unlikely event of loss or damage, your recorded items are automatically covered for up to £30 compensation. Items such as cash or jewellery are not covered under this service"0
