You cannot over-ride eBay's own return policy, doesn't matter if you are private or business. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

When I use my private selling account I have the options of stating 'no returns' on ebay if I list using auction style. It is ebay themselves that let me choose that, although I actually do let people return some items.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is one issue that is a major problem for me too.
I am a business selling clothing on eBay which means that I have to offer returns/refunds.
Despite clearly stating sizes and measurements I have had stacks of customers returning goods recently so that I can exchage them for the next size up. Funny I never get customers sending stuff back for being too big!
Unfortunately I think a lot of women lie to their other halfs over what size they really are! It's always the 'size 10s' that ask to be exchanged!
I tend to ask my customers to include something like '4 first class stamps' along with the goods to be exchanged to cover postage costs. Trouble is some planks don't fully understand this and stick the stamps I ask for on the front of the envelope along with the actual stamps needed for postage of the item!
If anyone has any tips on how I can tackle this 'delicate' issue then let me know!
S.
PS I always check the measurements that suppliers send me to verify that the shirts are the correct size.0 -
I actually gave up selling new clothes through a business account for this very reason. It got so bad at one point that despite all the measurements being clearly given as well as the size about 1 in 4 people wanted a refund for item being too small.
I could make money on the amount I sold, but once I factored in the nuisance level and all the additional post and packing my margins were being worn away. Virtually all my issues were with size 18 which was the largest size I sold, I even started adding things to the auction pleading with people not to buy if they were a 'big' size 18 as this was an accurately sized 18 and would not fit a size 20 or larger, and still they moaned it wouldn't even go over their head...arghhhI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well, I bought an item and seller stated no returns. I am returning the item by trackable means due to the item not been as described and get a refund on providing a tracking number. Every seller does, in a way, offer refunds. Perhaps not offer, but they are obliged to give them!GeologyRocks wrote: »Oh really? And what is this so called eBay's own return policy?

^I'm sure the seller's return policy covers things like when the buyer doesn't like the pattern or the size doesn't fit, not if the item hasn't been described accurately.
I totally make no sense.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -
i dont think it makes the buyer fat cos she isnt the size 10 she used to be BUT if i bought something that didnt fit when i expected it to i wouldnt be sat at a computer asking for a refund id be on my way to the gym!!0

I sold some size 10 jeans from Jane Norman, a shop known for fairly close fitting items - seller said they were too small but when I looked at everything else she had bought, it was all in size 14 - not my fault she was too fat for a size 10! I was very polite and stated that the item was as listed, with measurements and was clearly labelled by the shop and that even though I had big thighs myself I could fit into them - didn't hear another word back...0
