In which case you won't be porting out, if the PAC is active when the new network puts it in the MNP system it will port and Orange get their notice. If the PAC isn't active, the port will be rejected and the contract will continue as no notice has been served.0 -
Umer wrote:When I did this about a year ago this process took just over 30 days. If you are given a PAC code from Orange, you have to wait for the it to expire before you get another PAC code from your next service provider. Not sure if that is still the case. i.e.
1) Phone orange for pac (which lasts 30 days)
2) After 20 days call Vodafone and give them your PAC code
3) After the original 30 days have passed, ask Vodafone for a new PAC code
4) Place order with e2save and use new PAC code.
Either way, bear in mind that if you want to get a contract from e2save, it might not be a good idea to port your number after connection as this might affect the cashback T&C (so only use your PAC when placing the order). Best to phone them and confirm that.
Maybe you are right, I actually used mine on 22nd day after I recieved my PAC.0 -
That idea works but y not use the simpler method?
1) call orange and say u want 2 cancel your contract and keep your number on a payg sim card.
2) they send you one with your number on- can take up to 28days, ask them when you order one
3) when you recieve it, activate it, then get a pac code-NT3 transfer will allow u to take this payg number onto a new orange contract
SIMPLE, no need 2 buy a payg sim card, and costs nothing.
Ne questions, just ask.0 -
A PAC is a porting authorisation code and is used when you move your number from one network to another. In this case you would be migrating your number from one account to another on the same network, thus it would not work.Farhan wrote:That idea works but y not use the simpler method?

It will work.
He's saying that you cancel your contract, move the number to PAYG at the end of the notice period on the same network. Then once the number is on PAYG you ask for the PAC and port to another network at your leisure.0 -
Yes Farhan is right, you beat me with my 7 step idea. Your 3 step is better, but wouldnt there be a chance that your number is offline for some time? just wondering.0

I am right!
This is not using a PAC, it is called an NT3 transfer not PAC, therefore it is a transfer from the same network.
And there is no loss of interuption at stage one. Your contract remains active till you recieve the payg sim and activate it, so there is no loss in service of the number in this way but im cant remember if there is loss of number when making the transfer from payg to contract. There may be a few days, like there is with the pac, but you'll have 2 ask orange, i forgot!0
