Anyway, I've just bought some fabric conditioner so we'll see what it does.

It did the trick! Completely got rid of the static, just an own brand conditioner.

Our eyes met, he reached out towards me, our fingers touched & I got an electric shock

For some reason I've started getting zapped by DH. We don't wear many man-made fibres & this happens even on a stone floor.

I think this hint might work:

Otherwise, I'll spray him with fabric conditioner!

  • I have a dress that is a layer of silk over acetate to wear to a wedding tomorrow. The silk layer is really clinging to the underlsyer and not hanging right. How can I de-static it?

    Thanks, BB

Have you tried a tumble dryer sheet thing?

I've never tried it but I am sure I remember reading somewhere that hairspray prevents/treats static - it might be worth a quick spritz between the layers to see if it works!

You could try running a wire coathanger over the dress and between the layers - this sometimes works.
  • Thanks all - I've used a coat hanger and some hairspray - it seems to have worked! I didn't have any tumble dryer sheets. I've popped the hanger and spray in the suitcase in case i need them again tomorrow!

  • I'm sure this must have been asked, but sorry, couldn't find it.

I have been bought a lovely, floaty layered top, but it has the worst static cling. Any ideas? I don't want to wear anything to reduce static under it as it is something I would only wear in hot weather.

    Thanks.

Wrap a silk scarf over your hand and stroke it before you put it on. Something synthetic that's full of static is the very worst thing you could wear in hot weather, I'd consider using it as a cleaning-rag or burning it if the silk won't work.
