  • Wash the tights and the dress and use Fabric conditioner on both. You can also get Anti-Static under slips which also help.
  • Thanks - will give that a try and see how I get on.

if it still sticks then spray some hairspray up your skirt while wearing it. I have no idea why or how this works, it just does!!!

    have a great time x

    Hi there

You need to be carefull with the hairspray -as it makes your fabric more flamable.. don't want you lighting up like a sparkler if someone catches you with a cigarette
Try rubbing some moisturiser on your hands and then rubbing over your legs once you have your tights on-that reduces static too -mind you may want to do a test run -just to make sure it doesn't mark your tights (it shouldn't mind ;) )

  • All really helpful ideas - thanks again guys.

Recently bought 2 'cashmilon' (100% acrylic) jumpers from M&S and 2 acrylic tunics from BHS. Since they have been washed for the first time they are full of static. It is driving me mad. They are clinging to every roll of fat on my body!!:eek: It is not pretty and not comfortable.

I've read this thread and I tried the metal coat hanger trick. It makes no difference at all.

I'm not at all keen on the hairspray option as I can't stand the smell.

I do not ever use fabric conditioner, could this be why I'm getting static? Should I use some?

    I don't have a tumble dryer btw.

Anyone know about static, can a person be more susceptible to it than another? Maybe it's a symptom of premature menopause......

    Any tips and tricks?

i'll be interested to see any suggestions as i;ve looked though this thread and the solutions mostly relate to dress/ skirts/ trousers..

i have 2 jumpers that i let dry naturally, but they are so badly static that they crackle when i touch them.. its very disconcerting!

    i've tried hairspray, did nothing...

I've noticed static a lot more on clothes recently - my jumpers are all acrylic, and I hate them!!! They are clingy all day, and when I take them off the crackling is really loud :rotfl:I had stopped using fabric conditioner, and recently started using it again to see if that made a difference - and it does seem to. I had a problem with my dressing gown too, and fabric conditioner has really helped with it.

I never put anything with more than 50% artificial fibres in the TD as they make everything static.

What an intriguing thought re the menopause - I'm mid 40s.

yes, me too. I'm blushing a lot lately as well- lol! Don't suppose the static has anything to do with hormones at all:rotfl:

Anyway, I've just bought some fabric conditioner so we'll see what it does.
