My grandma is 65 and she's got black hair with very few greys down to the base of her spine
But does she wear her hair up?

. My sister is 47 and her hair is streaked and almost the same length as mine but she definitely doesn't look like mutton dressed as lamb. She looks years younger than what my mum did at the same age.

So can I put off shopping at bon marche and booking my perm and rinse for a while longer then?:rotfl::rotfl:

 Bon Marche has an eclectic range, from very trendy (IMO) to absolutely definitely old-lady-polyester. You just have to make the right choices once you're in there! :rotfl:

One thing I am NEVER doing is having a perm!

Good grief - I'm 44 this year and my hair is down my back and I wouldn't dream of getting it chopped - EVER!!! .......
Now I've read this I've realised I don't know anyone my age or older with long hair - RAFLMOA!! Well I do like to be different!:D

(waves to OP ) I'm 49 with hair down my back. I think its about waist length now :D

Neither do I think it is aging given that most people think I am younger than my actual years. Although actually I don't give a monkey's what anyone else thinks apart from my nearest and dearest.
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.

I get it trimmed and coloured regularly and it is in lovely condition. I never have it just hanging loose but either clip it our of my face or put it up and it is so much easier to manage - when I had it short years ago - I always had to faff around with tongs or straighteners to get rid of the sticky up bits. Now I just wash it and let it dry naturally whilst I'm working at home in the evening, then put it up in a scrunchy and it goes all wavy and not using a dryer means it stays shiny.

I am also 44 with waist length natural mid brown hair. I am not considering cutting it short either!

My mother is 76 and she still has long hair she wears up.

Last Monday i went to the hairdressers and chopped my longish hair (just past bra strap) to a graduated bob,(nape of neck lenght at back, slightly longer at front).
I'm 35 and felt for a long time that my long hair didnt suit me anymore. I've a long shaped face, so i felt it made me look 'drawn' and a lot older than i actually am. All i ever seemed to do with it was tie it back.
I now feel 'revived' and 'attractive' (meaning - not ugly).
The only down side was hubby was absolutely devastated that i chopped it all off. He just didnt get the fact i felt 'ugly', and has even tried to get me to promise i wont cut it any shorter  , but i've told him it's not open to discussion :D .

On the plus side, all my family and friends like it and say it suits me and makes me look younger (meaning more my age).

I grew my hair to just past shoulder length 3 yrs ago at age 50. I colour the greys with lush henna marron.

Best thing I ever did. I do wear it up though - much more flattering. I feel so much more feminine now & get more male attention since adopting this style (NOT the reason I did it - but a nice surprise!).

Don't follow anyone's rules. If you like what you see in the mirror & it feels good, go for it.

Wow! What a lot of differing opinions and ideas. Thanks all!

I hadn't really thought about it until my SIL mentioned getting hers cut....quite pointedly actually.... which was why I thought, oh-er, is she trying to tell me something?!

When I wore it in a long bob a few years ago, I used to regularly get comments, and was often asked who my hairdresser was....she was brilliant...and without being too big headed, it was beautifully cut, but then I did work for BA at the time, and there were strict regs on how we were allowed to wear our hair/length etc. I don't get any comments nowadays though......hmmm.

However, I like my hair long....(only bra strap length) OH likes it long....and my son has told me in the past that all his 18 year old friends think I am a !!!!!!...:D so for now...it stays!! LOL

Steph, don't feel that you have to cut your hair just because of your SIL's comments! I would wager that she is feeling a bit frumpy herself but don't let that drag you down, you obviously take good care of yourself and that's great. Long hair can be worn at any age imho. :)
