It wasn't nasty or negative...are we all who we proport to be????? ps didn't think it was sh1te either0 -
Well I am glad for you because you see I care about people too. I admire people who work hard and save.
However, all I was saying was its a supply and demand situation and at present you have low interest rates. You have to get over it the way I have got over uncomplainingly paying thousands and thousands in interest over the years. I knew it was because I had borrowed on a mortgage and didnt begrudge the savers their interest. Now people are trying to pay back debts so savers are not so well off. We are trying to be wise and careful like you to help ourselves. So maybe you shouldnt begrudge us trying to get somewhere too. Incidentally i have paid into a pension for years and that will be hit.
Glad we agree on something then....So in your view what has caused this financial crisis thats going to cost our children and grandchildren so much????? where did it start? what exactly was the cause?0 -

It started off in the USA as far as I am aware. Corrupt loan companies lent disadvantaged people sub-prime mortgages, they lent them to just about anyone and then when the interest rates on them began to rocket they couldn't pay their mortgages and were repossessed in large numbers. I don't necessarily blame the people but the corrupt loan companies. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Now I agree with you except for one part.At the same time US loan companies were lending to "sub prime" (high risk) people, exactly the same was happening here.We had Banks lending to "self cert"(high risk) and also 125% mortgages.I don't blame the hardworking ,balanced people ,I blame the ones suffering from "I want it now" syndrome. This view that some have of how it started in America is wrong, we had British banks lending to sub prime.I blame the banks, loan companies but I DO blame the bad borrowers who borrowed beyond their means, no one bank forces people to borrow 125% and to be honest it couldn't last..The saddest part is people are losing there homes and NO bankers/ministers are being made accountable.0 -

For once I agree with you wholeheartedly. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
