Hi,
Just found out my dissertation is due in on the 21/04! Now completely freaking out because have done hardly any work and also have a family law assignment due in on 21/04.
Is it possible to do research, write a dissertation, complete an assignment and revise for exams in seven weeks?!!!!

Im not going to give you a lecture, as im sure you're regretting not doing it now
You can only give it your best shot. If you dont, you will deffo not pass, if you try, you mightI know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
I wrote my dissertation in about 2 weeks. I am of the opinion that cos I did it and got it in on time and met the word count surely I must have at least passed! I'll tell you how that goes once I find out, but anyway, yes it's possible definitely, just start NOW! don't leave it till 2 weeks before like I did. Plan your days, set yourself daily targets, that's what I try to do.
How long does it have to be?0 -
wow! What have you been doing with yourself?!
I lived exactly as your title suggests in my 3rd year of uni - literally no life!! I enjoyed my first and second years and then hid away for my third as that is what the whole point was - getting a decent degree!
No idea what degree your doing - but I did psychology and it would not of been possible. Our dissertation required a research phase which took about 3 months to set up, 3 months to do and then I wrote it up after that...on top of other assignments and revising for my finals!
Why have you left it so long?
All you can do is buckle down now and get on with it - there isnt a question of can it be done...-IT MUST BE DONE! or you have wasted all your time!!!0 -
I agree with schueys_girl, it must done! I'm curious as to how you "just found out" that your dissertation is due on the 21st though.
My dissertation is due on the 13th of March, but I've done 3/4 of it already. But I also have groupwork of 7k words, 2 essays of 5k each due on the 18th.
I've hardly had any social life in my 2nd and 3rd year and I am a mature student with home responsibilities on top. I just hope that it will be worth it in the end.
I wish you good luck and I hope that you have already started working on your assignments, if not, get back to it now!0 -
Sounds like you must have been "having a life" for most of your 3rd year so far!
It ought to be possible, if you knuckle down. Depends on what sort of research you have to do though.
Good Luck.0 -

Nope not really, just busy with other things like running a house and looking after a child singlehandedly. I wish I was out having a life!!!
And I only just found out because thats the kind of college it is, even then my dissertation leader didn't tell me I found out from a friend who had found out from their dissertation leader. This was after being told it wasn't due in til the end of May! It could be worse though, my friend has only just been told her hypothesis wasn't acceptable and shes been given another one only now!0 -

Blimey!!
Have you really only just been told?
Why haven't any of you pressed for an answer before now?
I can't believe you have all just accepted this!!
How much guidance have you been given, and when did you have to have the proposals in?
That sounds really bad!
Is it a FE college delivering a HE course?0 -
This does sound really bad and I do feel for you.
You should all complain - you may all get an extension. This happened at my uni last year. Students complained that they were not given enough guidance on literature review or something like that and as everyone complained, they got 2 weeks extension I think. So this year, we had a bit more guidance on lit review.
I think it's worth complaining, if it doesn't take too much time and effort, in case next year's students benefit from it.
Do you at least have a topic that has been approved by your tutor? If not, make sure you get this asap so that you can carry on with your research. What degree are you doing btw?
Good luck in any case. I'm sure you can do it. It's never too late...0 -

That's unacceptable, I'd say.
Have you spoken to your dissertation leader about it?
I'd check that you have the correct info. and if so point out to them that you haven't been given adequate guidance. If your friend hadn't told you, when would you have found out? Go to the Head of Dept.if necessary.0 -
Mines due in on the 20th march so i am super busy working on that. I tend to try and spend a few hours on it each day, and then make myself go somewhere a few evenings a week, even just to a mates house.
also why dont you arrange some things for after all the work is in, Ive got a family holiday, and my mates coming to stay, and me staying at theres after we all finish.then you have something to look forward to0
