Agreed, but that is likely to be the outcome of this recession/ depression rather than a reason to think it will not be awfully severe and deep.0 -

Only to narrow minded people0 -
I am positive in life. Some of us have to be or nothing moves forward.
The company I run is doing very well at the moment and did last year.
What is the point of doom and gloom? Does it actually achieve anything?
if you're stuck in a rut due to financial or employment diffilcties or even have issues in your personal life your outlook will be all doom and gloom.
Wookster is a prefect example, he lost his job last week and will obviously be feeling like this.0 -
Bulls Vs Bears
Why does it always have to be Bulls versus Bears ?.
It is possible to see both sides of any argument occasionally.
There are plenty of things to be positive about.
You don't automatically have to take a negative outlook in the face of bad news.
In my opinion the most postive thing is that the looming Depression will ultimately wash away decades of rampant greed and economic mismanagement, and bring about a readjustment and reassessment of Economic theory, while many of the current theories will be exposed as incorrect and redundant.
I'm 47 now, and I know that when I reach 57 the World be be a much different and better place, even if the journey to get there is painful for many.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

I have to agree with on this one Wookster
another good discussion being wreckedIts a small group of people who have no interest in discussion, rather choosing to play with the wrecking ball.
Why do the mods allow these people to use these multiple user names?0 -
I believe a recession like the one we face gives us a chance to re-evaluate our priorities.
Do we really need a new flat screen TV every other year?
Can't we put more value in high quality clean public transport and scale back a bit on personal transport?
Can we redeploy highly intelligent people from working on finance products into physical and software products we can sell to the world ?
It's too easy to shrink back into a 'look-after-me-only' situation. I try to avoid this; one thing I don't want to cut back on is my charity donations.0 -

I think you have hit on something ther Chucky I think pessimists are far less likely to suceed in life as they will always find more downside and be too wary. Cautioness is of course necessary but a pessimist is likely to be over cautious and miss out.0 -
