    Yes they look good value.

I would not insure with them until a lot more is known about them. The cheapest is seldolm the best.
  • If your car insurance is up for renewal, try getting a quote from https://www.zurichinsurance.co.uk as some of their policies provide FREE Green Flag breakdown insurance. I changed to them this year, went through https://www.quidco.com for £65 cashback that was paid very quickly (it's now up to £80) and even without the cashback saved over £100 on my car insurance renewal quote (esure) PLUS free Green Flag service. Try a quote on https://www.moneysupermarket.com. MY service has just expired with Europe Assistance, which cost me less than £40. The renewal is £46. For those who do not know this company, they are probably the largest breakdown and recovery service in Europe. They can even cover motorhomes.

Yes try getting qoutes like above, then contact your current breakdown service and cancel explaining that you get it cheaper elsewhere - 9/10 they wiill beat it! - but don't qoute the cheapest price you had, make it lower! that way you can't lose! - I got the AA to reduce mine by about £18 for the year doing this :)

Id be grateful for any opinions??

It does seem to have an extraordinarily long list of conditions in the T&Cs. But then I guess there have to be. But I did notice some:-

At the time of breakdown, at our request you must provide evidence of proper service to your vehicle
I don't usually drive around carrying my service history. And what if you've missed a service by a few thousand miles??

Membership does not cover any extra costs involved in the transportation of pets nor can we accept responsibility for the transportations of pets, animals or livestock carried by the member’s vehicle
So don't break down with your dog in the car if you want the recovery service.

A call out charge will be imposed if we are called out for the same fault within 90 days
That could leave you with a rather nervous 90 days after you had called them out, praying the same fault didn't recur.

    Hey MSE Team,

Just to point out that Tesco Clubcard do offer Home Start on Clubcard Deals now but the article hasn't been updated to reflect that.

    Hope this helps!

  • On the recommendation of this article I purchased a roadside recovery policy from Europ Assistance via the moneysupermarket.com website. This was back in October and I still have not received my policy (even though they have my cash)! This is despite numerous emails and phone call where they promise to resend by both email and regular post.

The Customer Services departments of both moneysupermarket.com and Europ Assistance are now closed for Christmas and I must do a great deal of travelling over this period without the reassurance that I can call for assistance if I need it (I don't have any phone or policy numbers).

They might be cheap but I am not at all cheerful!
  • Well moneysupermarket.com have finally sent through my policy; two months after my original purchase date and without so much as an apology. I have asked them to extend my policy by the period I have "lost" through not having any policy details. Lets see what their response is...

Surprise, surprise, no response at all from moneysupermarket.com with regards to my request to extend my policy by the two "lost" months. I certainly won't be renewing my policy with them and I suggest you avoid them too if you actually want effective cover for the full insrance period.
