i've been with 'first call' for about 4/5 years and have had to use them a few times.

i thoroughly recommend them, i've never had any problems with them.

my cover runs out on the 20th and their prices have gone up recently so i may change.

i'm considering autoaid but slightly uneasy about paying up front and then claiming the money back.

has anyone ever not received all or part of their rebate?

I had to use them for the second time this month (very embarrassing, hardly ever needed AA, needed these twice in two months) and, even more embarrassing, found I had no credit cards and only a few quid on me. They said 'no problem' and the firm billed them direct.

I just hope I've not been 'blacklisted' when it comes to next year's renewal!
  • We am currently in my our first year of cover with Firstcall (Expires Feb 2007) We paid £60.80 for joint cover but have not yet needed to use their service. _pale_

Having read about Firstcall's awful service in several threads we are going to change to Autoaid which will only cost us £32.00 (as we are married). Autoaid also have excellent customer satisfaction and no one here seems to have any complaints about them.

Many people on this Forum have been asking whether Autoaid have a website, the answer is YES: I think is is quite new.

Hopefully this will answer any other questions that you have about them.

    Happy saving folks.:rotfl:

  • Auto Aid sound amazing however i also have a 49cc scooter which i would like to cover. Unfortunately AutoAid only covers bikes above 150cc. Can anyone recomend a cheap breakdown cover that will cover my two cars and the scooter/ a combination of breakdown covers.

    thanx

I've used firstcall twice - fantastic both times and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Well... never thought I would need it but had to use autoaid (£32) for the first time last month.

Was involved in an car accident involving both my car and another being written off.

Phoned autoaid, who then phoned a local recovery service ... arrived in 45 minutes. Paid them £105. Completed the claim form I got with my welcome pack and got the refund cheque within the time stated.

Thumbs up Autoaid. I will be renewing in a years time when the AA ("Honda Recovery") membership I got free with my replacement car expires :)

We have a caravan and at present our caravan and car are covered by Green Flag against breakdown but to get this you have to belong to the caravan club. Are there any breakdown companies out there that do an inclusive deal for caravans without one haviong to join a caravan club?

I used Firstcall last month - the car broke down just as my other half came up the drive after work and wouldn't start again. They wouldn't send someone out that night as, if they couldn't fix it, no local garage would be open to take it and they'd have to send someone out the next morning again for the tow. This would mean we'd be charged for the second call out (for some reason, despite having platinum cover). So, poor dp had to take the bus to work (45 mins instead of 15 in the car). Not good, and the bus didn;t come on time so he was late. The fault was fixed in 5 minutes when they did come...I used to use the RAC and they were brilliant - when my old car died they even took the recently fitted starter motor off for me so I could flog it on EBay! Cover has just run out, but I don't think I'd use FirstCall again - I wasn't exactly filled with confidence at their 'cost before service' attitude. Any recommendations for someone who wants everything but Euro cover?
  • i have been with greenflag for a long time, and find them very helpfull

  • Hi everyone, I am not new to moneysaving expert but am new to actually posting, I just wanted to let you all know about this cover I have come across as I think it is the cheapest around for the service that it offers. I am yet to sign up but just wondered if anyone else has had any dealings with them or indeed signed up?? The cover is £29.99 inclusive of roadside assistance, recovery and home-call!

Id be grateful for any opinions??
