Slow service ........

I changed to Zurich connect on 24.02.09 and I am still waiting for the documents. When I complained I was told 7 to 14 days. Not too good if you are waiting for the Certificate of Insurance to tax your car!

ADDITION: A cert of insurance is required when you want to tax a vehicle at DVLA office e.g. buying a new car or changing the taxation class to disabled. In most EU countriest is a legal requirement to carry a valid certificate of insurance and you are liable to a spot fine and even confiscation of the vehicle if you cannot produce it to a police oficer.

Not great I agree sending documents out quickly can be one of the issues with some of the Direct Companies, but don't worry if you ever have a claim Zurich are normally on the ball

but if you're covered then you are not doing anything wrong and all can be very easily explained!!

Is this really worthy of an angry man icon???

It certainly is if you are waiting for the insurance certificate to tax the car. Try explaining my certificate is in the post to the job's worth at your local DVLA office:beer:

If you need to tax the vehicle quickly, the insurer can write a covernote and send it to you first class (or Special Delivery if you pay the extra money). This is acceptable to tax a vehicle. Zurich offer this but not sure if Zurich Connect do?

sorry but this is bad timing/planning on your part.

7 - 14 days is in their t&c, did you read them before signing up? What do you expect? Them to courier it up to you?

I am with Zurich and have been for many years with 2 x policies. Nothing but praise for them. Excellent cover, £70 quidco per policy and only yesterday did i recieve 2 x £50 vouchers for M&S for being a customer with them.
  • If you have the tax renewal notice then there's a code on it and you can also pay your car tax online.

No need to have any documentation to hand other than the tax notice as the computer system checks for valid insurance and MOT.

Tax it online, they automatically check for valid insurance and MOT and the tax disc will be sent in the post to arrive within 5 working days. You can also do this by phone..

    What do you expect?
I expect similar service to that which I have had from many providers over the years. Without exception the cert of insurance is sent first class on same day or the day after I have been accepted.

FYI : One cannot apply for tax online until Zurich get round to updating the insurance database. You may not be aware that this can take ~ 14 days

My intention was to warn anyone else who may fall foul of the same problem, but many thanks for your sympathetic responses <LOL>

    Update:
Purchased insurance 24.02.09, told documents available on line - they were not. I asked for documents to be sent and was told 7-14 days. On 04.03.09, I was told "they have been sent 1st class post". Contacted Zurich 09.02.09, to be told "you should receive your documents in the next 4-7 days".

14 days and still no certificate of insurance from Zurich. IMHO this service is not satisfactory. I used to think Zurich was a dependable company
