    GOOD NEWS:
Contacted new insurer yesterday and documents arrived today by 1st class post. IMHO that is good service, which I would expect from any good insurer.

    Congratulations

Now you know how to work the system!

    Thanks guys,
I am always very careful when filling out on line forms but I don't feel comfortable until I have checked the policy documents.

I cannot accept that it takes 14 days to issue a computer generated Certificate of Insurance and have a sneaking suspicion that the 14 days is to get round the distance selling regulations and they will sting you for a cancellation fee thereafter.

Just because I may be parranoid, does not mean they are not out to rob me. :rotfl:

It normally takes a few days, the 14 day cooling off period takes effect with insurance from the date you receive the documents.

This was probably just a hicup with their outsourcing which is probably off shore

    This is from Zurichs website

If you cancel your policy within 14 days of
receiving it (or for renewals, within 14 days
of your policy renewal date) we will
charge you on a pro rata basis for the
time we have been on cover subject to a
    minimum premium of £15 (including
    insurance premium tax).

Thanks for the quote and you may well be correct, but I do not trust the gnomes of Zurich.

Playing devils advocate your quote says "within 14 days of receiving it". I know how insurers like to play semantics when it is to their advantage.

    I quote from their e mail 24.02.09:
Your policy documentation is now available for you to view and print in My Connect MORAVCIK123, where requested (or if required by law) we will send these documents by post.
Thus I would suggest they would take it as the date of this e mail as the start date for distance selling regulations.

Please note: Twice they told me the documents had been sent by 1st class post. RM may not be perfect, but I do not believe they lost my documents twice.

The FSA is very consumer focused and they would almost certainly side with you on this, they are the reason you have the 14 day cooling off period as their ultimate goal is every customer understands what they are buying, are sold a policy that is suitable and they are treated fairly.

I can understand your sceptism as I know how much the public distrust Insurers, I think in your case they would have counted the 14 days from the day you received them by post

:rotfl: At long last I have received correspondence from the gnomes. No appology or even an acknowledgement of my complaint that I did not receive any documents >
You are required by law to return the certificate of motor insurance to us within the next 7 days
    What a joke
I have already received the refund so at least one small part of their system is efficient :T

I got another letter from Zurich today. They can't send me an insurance certificate, but they can send me TWO letters demanding I send it back - what a farce!
