Missile I take it your not gonna put Zurich in your top three in my top three insurers thread.
If you want something out of them in the future, be polite with the zurich person and ask their name etc and ask them to do you a special favour and post it out that night. They will then hopefully post it out that night. I've not used Zurich for a year or so but I used to like their call centre staff as they were Pompey girls and you could have a good chat with them and they would do you favours like prioritising them.
A lot of Insurers have massive post rooms where their printers are that are often at a completely differnent end of the building or sometimes in different towns so when things are done by automation or standard printing they can often not leave the Insurers for upwards of three days.0 -
As stated above, if you urgently need a certificate then ask for a manual cover note to be sent first class - this is a hand written form that works as a certificate of insurance.
However, this doesn't make up for the fact you are still waiting for the original documents. At Zurich (not Connect), they say to wait 3-5 working days. If they haven't arrived then the documents will be sent again.
dacouch - Zurich Connect calls are generally dealt with in Bratislava and occasionally in Cardiff. However I agree that the Portsmouth staff are always friendly and go out of their way - found that when I worked there for a short period of time. I even heard someone offer to send out documents by Special Delivery as someone hadn't received them quickly enough (which obviously isn't standard policy!)
The printing wasn't done in our building in Fareham - not sure where but all letters were input into the mainframe and then sent out centrally. However that doesn't stop the really helpful staff from printing documents themselves and popping them in the post trays to be sent that day!0 -
I used to get on really well with the Zurich Portsmouth girls they were very flirty
my mate owns a club down there and told me some of them were cracking as they used to go there a lot. Tidy women in insurance is quote unusual as you normally work on the basis of "Nice of the phone add ten stone"
So like Brucey and I said , be nice to the people on the phone ask their name and they will normally try their best to get things out if its urgent. Most people in Insurande genuinely want to help you0 -
Thanks guys,
I always try to be polite. What goes around comes around.
My motive for posting is not to vent anger, rather to warn other MSE people who may be caught out.
Maybe I was unlucky, but I am very concerned that having had so much trouble getting a cert of insurance, what problems might I have if I need to make a claim. I had always regarded Zurich as one of the best, but I have decided to cut my losses and go to a company with a UK call centre."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I'm surprised its taking so long, but mistakes happen sometimes.
It might be worth making sure they have the right address0 -

:rotfl: Oh you are going to get slaughtered for that !!All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
You sooo know it true!0

Would imagine Zurich Connect are having a few teething problems, it is a relatively new service.0

GOOD NEWS:
Contacted new insurer yesterday and documents arrived today by 1st class post. IMHO that is good service, which I would expect from any good insurer."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Glad it worked out in the end.
I think some companies rely too heavily on their on-line systems and it all falls apart if the system doesn't work properly.
I had terrible trouble with British Gas paperless billing initially.
I swear it didn't work about 95% of the time I logged on, but it's better now.0
