Random Barclays letter....

A classic personal banker 'I need the sales but don't like Telecaps' letter.
Not sure if they still use Telecaps, but it was a system that would pull off all the customers who could be sold to i.e. pre approved loans, Additions accounts etc...
Your lucky, I remember some customers getting loan applications sent to them even when they had not asked!
No more telecaps or CAPs in the old Customer System/Exceed/Management/whatever-the-hell-you-called-it sense. They're replaced with Customer Prompts on the new Account Opening Release/Customer Gateway software, which are actually more relevant to the customer, and with CCLs - Customer Contact Lists. CCLs are produced by UK MI and create lists of customers without contact exclusions. Their use is monitored and targetted, too.
I feel really sorry for current BMs.What would William Shatner do?0 -

Good to see that things never move on then!! I remember them CAPS popping up on customer system and totally useless suggestions like 'customer has children ask them for a review' just because it picked up child benefit being paid in, they might not have any money or limits!
I assume the practice of PB's printing loan applications and posting them to customers randomly has stopped now, I thought it was so underhand, and at first I thought it was just our branch, but I covered another group once and the same thing happened there! These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
Regardless, I wouldn't trust anything that has grammatical errors and no letterhead.0

Yeah you'd think legit letters from branches would have some level of effort in checking them!Debt which IS NOW GONE before 31.12.2011: CC - GONE!!! :j Loan: GONE!! :j

The best way to check if any bank / CC letter is genuine, is to call the company on the customer service number you already have and ask.
I would never take a chance on any letter sent to me in the post even if it looks genuine, but from what the OP was saying this sounds like the sort of letter that does get made in branches. Even with bad grammer, don't forget everyone is human. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

Well its been however many days/weeks now and i've not called them back since i did first time round, and they've not called me - not since leaving the voicemail saying it was jsut a courtesy call. So long as nothing's wrong then i'm happy enough to leave it be!Debt which IS NOW GONE before 31.12.2011: CC - GONE!!! :j Loan: GONE!! :j
