Hi guys
I opened the ING savings account online just before they closed the £20 loophole. i went through all the questions and eventually set up my account, of which i got confirmation back. i was asked to send a cheque to open the account. In this instance i sent £10. The cheque was banked and cleared my account. After 3 days i received my DD confirmation and the folowing day i received a standard letter saying change of interest rates etc.
Anyway when i rang them after having difficulty logging in online i was told that the account was closed and my £10 was returned. When i asked they told me it was cos they needed some ID for proof of address and hence closed the account. They were kind enough to refund me £10.01 for whatever reason. They also told me i can no longer get the £20 promotion.
Can ING just do this like that. It seems to me they have used this as an excuse not to pay the £20. Im slightly annoyed about this and not sure if there is anything i can do.
Any ideas?0 -

As I'm still in dispute with ING Direct on this, does anybody have the original Terms & Conditions/Minimum Requirements details for opening this account, which they could post here.
Thanks in advance anyone.0 -

Hi all, my first post here.
I got the £20 too, many thanks to the MSE team
I got a letter today telling me that I can refer three others and get £25 for each of them. The person you refer also gets £25 themselves
I have signed up a family member so far but I thought that it may be worth mentioning that the codes didn't work on the website. Thankfully ING's customer service was excellent and i have been assured that you can sign up online, and then inform customer services of the required details, including your referred friends new account and customer numbers, in order to still receive the offer.
Time will tell if it still works of course but if it does, there is another potential £75 up for grabs.0 -
