The Sun / Alton Towers Deal (not all it seems!)

Well we actually took a picnic. I suppose if the courtyard had been busy then it would have been rude to eat our own food at one of their benches, but we did buy coffee there and one portion of fries.
There are benches lined up in front of the show, so you could sit there and hand out sandwiches lol!
The tavern sells lattice fries for £1.80 a portion. The meals are around £7-ish but that doesn't include a drink. They sell piri piri chicken burgers, half roast chicken etc. with fries or jacket and some salad.
I took a picnic because my 3 year old sometimes still sits in his pram - alton towers is a big place and you could walk a long way. If it's busy then small children might get knocked over, or burned by cigarettes as happened to my friend last year (in town, not at alton towers). He didn't sit in the pram, but it was great for loading with picnic bags, coats etc.
Alton Towers has a burger king which would be cheaper than the tavern if you wanted a meal, but with them closing the park at 5pm it's only lunch you'll be wanting so a portion of chips is probably enough.
There's a restaurant near the entrance which still seems to be serving at home time though, a sit down carvery if you wanted your evening meal before leaving. We took another picnic though for the evening meal lol!52% tight0 -

They also operate a Parent Q share pass for parents with little ones in tow who want to go on the thrillseekers it advices to ask at guest services when you arrive. Could be worth looking into:j:jWins 2009: 57 totalling £3083:j:j:jNovember - Peroni Bottle Opener, Jonas Brothers DVD, Loreal Glam Shine Lip Gloss, Richard Hammond Blast Labs, St Helier T Shirts, McCain Chips:j0 -
The parent thing is a great idea for families who split up due to children being different ages. You get a pass from guest services, and the parent who queues and goes on the ride asks the ride operator to sign the pass. The other parent can then go into the priority queue and get straight onto the ride.52% tight0

Oh, discodee reminded me, the parking charge is a fiver! I believe discodee walked last time, I think it's a mile or two, not sure.
Discodee my parents always leave their tea in the car. Guest services will look after picnic bags for around a fiver I think, or there are lockers somewhere in the park, for those who don't come by car.
We spread a picnic blanket on the grass in carpark D and watched the final monorails this weekend, it was lovely. I know it was a car park, but it wasn't busy by the end of the day and we could see and hear birds, there was a bee buzzing around etc. so my 3 year old was impressed

Don't think anyone is taking a blind bit of notice of these rules.

no-one IS posting personal details. This is a money saving board, we're saving money by getting a free day out. If we get unsuitable dates what's the problem in swapping like for like tickets for days that suit?
if we have to sell them on ebay then buy a date we need, that costs us money and this board is all about NOT spending money you don't need to!I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
We all swapped tickets last year - at our own risk - and a blind eye approach was taken. Unfortunately sometimes the rule policehave nothing better to do.0
