Would I be wrong to expect........

  • As part of the original item was missing then this should have been mentioned by the seller. Just because it's used shouldn't mean that something has bits missing. As a previous post said you wouln't expect a cd to arrive with the booklet missing or a coat to arrive minus the buttons.

Even if you don't neg him for not sending a complete item. Neg him for not responding and being a prat with his smart !!! answer.

I must admit it was that that really annoyed me.

I would expect manuals to be included unless otherwise stated.
  • Seems odd that the buyer has to check if something is complete.

    It's eBay, it's not a shop.

Yes, the seller was sneaky not to list it as not included, but it's a bit like "healthy" food being labelled as 95% fat free- if it were labelled as 5% fat would it still appear healthy- it's just about clever marketing.

Sneaky, yes, but they didn't lie, they didn't say it was included nor show it in a photo.

I'd expect it to be in there too but wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't given that it was listed as used, as ppl have already said you can download them, but I agree the sellers' comms would be the sticking point for me, i'd prob just leave a neutral and mark their comms very low and make a point of saying you had some issues. But so long as the main item works, i.e. the game, then I wouldn't neg it as I still got what i was really after in the first place.

With over 2000+ feedback and a PS I'm hardly a novice!

  • Then I am surprised you didn't check the listing more carefully and contact the seller beforehand.

Sorry to hear that you got duped, but at that experience level I'm very surprised you weren't more cautious.

It should be reasonable to expect any product to be complete unless otherwise stated - if you were buying a car, you wouldn't expect to have to ask a question to make sure that the engine is in it !

That said, if a particular aspect of the product is important, then its worth checking.

To answer the initial point, the seller sounds like they are "economical with the truth" and other buyers deserve to be warned so neutral or neg would seem appropriate.
  • TBH, I wouldn't have expected the manual with what you said was stated in the listing. I usually only buy/bid on items where the description is more detailed or I contact the seller to ask.

If someone just types one sentence and gives as little information as possible about the item they've probably got something to hide - in this case, the game manual.

Technically, you've received what you paid for (and what was stated as for sale) which was the game, so I think it would be unfair to leave a neg. Maybe leave a neutral saying that there was a misunderstanding with what was actually included.

Leave him a neg if the listing made it look complete.
(even the postings saying don't mainly agree the seller was sneaky, or out to dupe you if he did this)
