No doubt they'll blame us and add on interest as it's charged daily. Shame I don't get 6% APR in my own bank account :mad::mad:0 -
Well the clowns at Skipton finally collected the Direct Debit on the 9th April ! I've written a complaint to them also as my fixed rate mortgage repayments have gone up by over £8 a month. I've also demanded confirmation in writing that the April payment will be backdated to 1st at the LATESTThis space for rent0

UPDATE
I have heard from Skipton, and they were much more contrite then Scarborough was, but that might be cos Scarborough was disappearing down the plughole so they didnt need to be too apologetic.
Skipton came up with the same argument of course, that the FSA has sanctioned everything, but was willing to reduce my payment to the old amount, but leaving me with a sum to pay after the term had ended..so obviously that is unacceptable to me. I have asked for a specific calculation of my new payment, due to the fact a financial professional couldnt work out how they are charging me so much. And of course, hoping they will look more kindly on this, rather then going to the Ombudsmen.
Anyone else getting anywhere?0 -

Steve, I rang the Skipton as mine was very late being collected, and they said they had the money, even though it wasnt showing as going out my bank account...I know that was only a verbal call, but I hope that helps ease your mind on that point.
As for the fixed rate mortgage going up...your not the only one my friend..its a bit of a drawn out process going through the complaints procedure..hopefully they have hundreds to go through..remember to keep a copy of the letters you send..I think that helps if it goes to the ombudsmen.
Good luck0 -
Thanks for the advice fineanddandy. I phoned Skipton to find out about how to make overpayments, and thankfully it seems to be pretty painless. I can make as many overpayments as I like within the 'year' (31st October->30th October) upto 10% of the original loan amount. I don't even need to phone them to do it, I can just do a Bank Payment using online banking. I'll spread the "missing" month's payment over a few months and hopefully that'll fix things.
Cheers againThis space for rent0 -
just an update
Its now gone to the Ombudsman as Skipton wont budge..not a great surprise to be honest.
Here's hoping they will see my side...0 -
How very interesting. I decided to have a look at this site and forum for the first time since originally posting my comments in March (and making my extra payment!)
I see that my third post was reported to the moderator by Robert Sterling and removed from the forum.
That's a pity because not only did it provide more information on how to complain to the FSA it also pointed out that Mr Sterling interpretation of finance and economics is just pure disinformation. I took offence at his high and mighty tone that effectively dismissed peoples credible and real concerns. I'm sure he did consider it as abuse - I considered it as putting the record straight.
Despite the fact that his mathematics were sorely lacking, I see he hasn't had the decency to fully concede his position, nor ask for my post to be reinstated.
It was always quite clear that this was a huge rip-off and anyone with an understanding of cashflow and an ability to read the terms of the mortgage which were posted on this webiste, would be able to identify this. Luckily for me I do this for my living so I understand this, in the same way that I find say joinery or computer programming completely impenetrable...but what I don't do is postulate on these forum pretending I am an expert in these fields.
Therein I guess is the problem with these forums. Who really is the expert? It really isn't Mr Sterling - perhaps someone could let him down gently?0 -
Just updating...
Still waiting on the Ombudsmen, but they did say they were very busy at the moment (I wonder why ), but they were waiting on Skipton to put their side to it.0 -

Final update...
I have heard back from the FO, and they feel Skipton did what they could and it is fair.
Gutted and peeved, but life goes on...another lesson learnt though, NEVER TRUST ANY COMPANY, what you see isnt always what you get...a fixed rate that can be unfixed, if the BS deems it acceptable.0
