Scarborough BS and Skipton Mortgage DD rip off
Comments

I am hoping on a backlash for the Scarboro and Skipton, now people who 'missed' the payment are recieving revised DD for the mortgage...when people see how much it has gone up, hopefully rhe complaints will really start to roll in.
For me, i am waiting on the Building Society to come back to me after they have discussed it with their Legal Departments. I made it clear to them in writing if I am 1P out of pocket (which I am, by a long way) I will go all the way with the Ombudsman.0 -
If you are 1p out and you do go to the ombudsman I think the ombudsman will invoke some latin phrase the meaning of which roughly translates as "the law does not deal with trifles"................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

IF you are out by £1000 it will be the biggest chiz since Harold Wilson devalued the pound from $4 to $2.40 and then told the great British public that "this will not affect the pound in your pocket.;)...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Going back to the poster's example that we have most information on and putting it in a slightly different way....
5 payments of £369.26 and 353 payments of £ 372.10
5*369.26+ 353*372.10 = £ 133197.60
360 payments of £ 369.26 = £132 933.60
Difference of £264 which is not the same as 1k(353*2.84)
This is just guesswork though because we don't have all the facts. The other thing that I thought strange was that new monthly figures had been provided and yet they don't know if people will be making a March payment yet ( still a few days left to 27/3)
I feel the original letter is poorly worded. I get the impression that not much other than a new monthly figure has been provided.
People do have reason to question and dispute if the total interest is more whether it's pennies or pounds.
6 payments of £369.26 (September, October, November, December, January, February) and 353 payments (rest of term) of £ 372.10
6*369.26+ 353*372.10 = £133566.86
Rather than
360 payments of £369.26 = £132933.60
£132933.60-£133566.86 = £633.26
£633.26 is a lot to lose out just to have one less mortgage payment right at the end of the term. In your example you reduced my payments by two months, I see no evidence that this will happen.

Hi Andrew,
Have you got the ball rolling yet with making an official complaint..I rang the dedicated helpline first, to get the ball rolling..then followed it up with a letter in writing.
I think it is a good idea to do that to confirm your reasons for making the complaint, and I think it helps when (or if) it goes to the Financial Ombudsmen.

Hear Hear Sloughflint.
I think it all comes down to who takes the hit for this merger..Skipton...or Scarboro mortgage members..at the moment, it looks like the MEMBERS!
The CSA on the helpline kind of agreed with me about it seems unfair from a chronological viewpoint, but they are purely looking at it as a monthly payment issue, instead of a 3 day issue, hence why they dont accept the premise you and others have kindly put forward.
Maybe the Customer Satisfaction unit might...we shall see:rolleyes:0 -

Not yet, I can't get through to the "dedicated team". I can get through to Skipton's normal customer services but they can't help!0
