Right, mortgage company said there was a problem with our signatures, we're sorting that out this afternoon, now after doing a second survey on the property they've found cracks in the main walls and won't proceed without a report from a structural engineer.
I cannot believe the problems we're having with this damn house.
I have told this story before but here goes again:
Went to buy a house 20 years ago - my OH loved it and wanted it all costs. It never happened. She cried her eyes out like it was the last house in the world.
Six months later we bought a different house - bigger, cheaper, better location, more potential and now looking back worth a lot more than the other house.
Moral of the story - if its meant to be it meant to be - if it does not happen its for a reason.0 -

None of this has anything to do with it being a repo, though. On the other hand, it may explain why it's cheap and why the vendors decided to stick with you.
Do remember that the structural engineer's report is for your benefit as much as the mortgage company's. If the report is bad, walk away rapidly. Don't feel locked in by the fees you've paid.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
By the way, how come you and the original surveyor have not spotted the cracks? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

No idea, we've not seen any cracks, the original survey says there's no sign of movement and no need for further investigations, but the lender says a 2nd valuation shows problems....however, we're not allowed to see this survey, so we don't actually know if there is one. Our IFA suspects that they could be trying to avoid lending us the money, if that's the case, then surely they should just tell us because now we're forking out another £240 for a structural survey on the property, which I'm sure will confirm there are no problems with the structural integrity of the building.
The house was built in the 70's, so it's not particularly old.0 -

Little consolation I know but after a lifetime in the business I found numerous examples where people 'lost the house' and were inconsolable. But found a number of people who would let us know, some months later, that had found something even better with which they were very happy. They felt it was as if fate had played a positive hand.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. cheer up. I can absolutely guarantee that there are other houses for sale. Besides that, the other buyers may still pull out.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
But does go to show, the number of people on here saying the EAs make up other offers, but as we have seen on several posts lately, there really has been better offers on the table.0
