Hi there, Ill pm you with a phone number

But rescues will expect a donation for a dog. After all they have kennelled and probably neutered and chipped them.

Oh we cross-posted :) Ill pm you now.
  • Thanks I will keep posting. I don't feel the cost of approx £150 is very expensive not when you consider that a puppy farmed Lhasa Apsos will sell for approx £300 - £500 depending on who is selling and lets face it puppy farms should be out lawed.
    :T

I hope you find yourself a lovely rescue dog, it is so empty in a house without a dog! :o

Cheap at half the price :D

Our Ralph was zilcho but he was about to be put down at 6 weeks old as he was disabled at birth (has cost us thousands - literally - since though :)) Our Diggs was £100 having been chipped and neutered and first innoculation (though we had to repeat that as apparently it wasnt compatible with our vets usual stuff ??). As OH says, "best £100 we have ever had the pleasure of spending"

I think most of our rescue dogs have been in the region of £100-£150 each time. Whats that? Some people spend that in a restaurant on a saturday night out.

A dog that doesn't need much walking? Sounds like you need a retired greyhound. Going by what I have read on these forums they are canine couch potatoes

I'll second this - I've known a couple of retired greyhounds (my favourite, Kipper, sadly passed away last year) and they are the most wonderful, affectionate dogs. I wouldn't say they're suitable for young kids, but should be fine with older children (obviously depends on the dog). They don't need a lot of exercise - a few short bursts a day will suffice as they really are couch potatoes. lol. Kipper, the first one I knew was lovely. Very friendly, confident, etc. His successor, a female who's name escapes me, is a lot more nervous, but she is coming out of her shell (mother is good friends with the owner, so I see the dog on a semi-regular basis when I'm at my mothers).

Having lost a few of my dogs in the last few years, I can sympathize with what you're going through - for me, I was losing a member of the family and I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when my current "youngest" (he's 11 - others are 13 and 16 respectively) passes, as I am especially close to him.
