Thank you Mimi for that, I too spend many an hour reading everyones Boots posts, have picked up a few items, but still too scared to try GWP freebies etc, I will no longer hide in the shadows just reading, but will try hard to contribute to the board.
I am also having a had time atm, my step father has been diagnoised with terminal throat cancer, my best friend from childhood is recovering from breast cancer and her brother is now having treatment in Canada (very expensive) for stomach cancer (they are both in their early 40's) It makes things slightly more bearable to know that you are not suffering alone and the lovely people on this forum are willing to open their hearts and help you through it.
I wish you all the luck for the future and much love xxxxxxx
Don't be scared re the GWP's whats the worst that can happen, the SA (or the till) can say no, alternatively, it will say YES:T Most of the glitches on here have been thoroughly tested so we know that they work!!
Lots of people on here have been/are going through the same as you are now with their friends/family so there is always someone here who will understand that sometimes you just need to rant, so don't ever feel that you are alone xx

Just spotted this, for you Bootsers who are doing nappy cakes/baby hampers -

I went to sedley place after work today, to get a vichy GWP (wasn't brave enough the other day, but built up the courage to have a go after nine tails confirmed that they scan at 0.00), but...not a single one left:( the display I saw full to the brim the other day, was now empty. I hope they get more stock in. I love vichy.
I popped into the bond street store looking for No7 reductions to redeem my perkies against (and hopefully get something for free:D ). The SA saw me eyeing up the reduced foundations near the till. She said" the vouchers don't work on these. They worked the other day, but they have fixed the tills" she went on to tell me a story about a male customer she'd had in earlier, who was really agressive towards her because the the till wouldn't accept the perkie against the foundation. I felt really sorry for her, because she was obviously upset by the incident. Poor soul:( I asked her if I could try my perkies against some reduced items and she said yes. The till said NO to the perkie against a reduced nail polish and suncream. But, it said YES against an exfoliatorMr B is playing games with us over these perkies:rolleyes:
This afternoon I was in a tiny store near my work and spotted the piz buin I bought yesterday at my local for 50p - priced £5.85:eek: mad or what? it definetly pays to shop around as far as boots is concerned. My local is usally more expensive than any other store, so I was pleasantly surprised to find I'd got a bargain yesterday:)0 -
jazzteddy - this seems to be abit of a trend lately, alot of people have mentioned about SA's holding back surveys and giving them out to who they choose. Abit naughty really, makes you wonder if they served the intended recipient badly so witheld the survey!!!
This also happened to me a few weeks ago. SA (I kind of know) asked if I would put a good word in for her. She said something like "it will help me if I get positive feed back from customers":rotfl:0 -
Hi Sally,
it is a bit hit and miss with the perkies on reduced priced stock right now...
But Boots need to be aware that many customers only spend the full £5 needed to get a perkie,
so that they can use it on the reduced stuff. That probably goes for many of us here too.
Am flitting between here and the Boots Chat thread at the mo...in case you are wondering where everyone is.:)0 -

I don't mind writing something nice about a person who has been genuinely good at their job though.:)0 -
*Jelly_Tots* wrote: »Oooh - can I just ask - what are these like to use ? They always sounded like they would melt and go all squishy, with being 'wax'. Are they good and easy to put in ? Also, are they better at blocking the sound out than the foam ones ?
Hiya JT
I knew there was a post I'd forgottenbut the wax earplugs aren't like candle wax lol (although I'm not sure what the Muffles that Sally recommended are like
) They're pliable like wax is, and you give them a bit of a squeeze or roll-around so that they're comfortable, but they don't melt in your ear or anything like that :rotfl: The ones I used to use were used more than once too
(didn't realise that they were probably single use lol) BUT, they did work
Have you looked in the travel accessories in Boots? Or on clearance? They seem to repackage their travel items each year, and I've noticed that in 2 or 3 stores they have last years items in clearance - like passport holders, luggage tags, but earplugs too. The ones I spotted today only contained a couple of pairs (I think) and were 80p ish.

I am sooooooooooo tired, but the Boots Virgin has now been well and truly deflowered! My haul was very modest today, everything else was hers, and she has proved herself to have the coveted degree in Bootsing now!
First of all, regarding National Express Funfairs, Dee & I are going the week after next to Bournemouth. It is costing us £1 each way on the coach (NE) and our Travel Lodge room is £9 between us per night!!!! :j
That is what is called a Bargain!! We are seeing Flashdance one night for £10 each, and You Don't Bring Me Flowers the next night! I'm very pleased with this deal, and of course we can go to Boots branches in Bournemouth, Boscombe, Christchurch .........!!! :T
We met at CW and had a Beebee £2.50 brekkie including coffee - same as last week. BV's card had arrived, and we printed off loads of New Extracts vouchers, and cut out those from the mag. We both got:
Shops One and Two
New Extracts 200 ml Almond £7.34, reduced to £4.89, over 60s £4.41
less 300 points, cost £1.41 in Boots logic
Shops Three & Four
New Extracts mini Cocoa Butter £2.45 > £1.63 > £1.47
less 300 points, given £1.53 to take it away!
Shop Five (BV)
New Extracts gift set £6.85 > £4.56 > £4.10
less 300 points, cost £1.10 - all the NE were at SS tills
Shop Six (BV)
Stay Perfect Compact £3.30 > £2.97
used her newly acquired points!
Shop Seven (BV)
No 7 Miracle Varnish £6.60 > £5.94
Less Perkie, cost £1.94 (I gave her the Perkie)
In the 4 Canary Wharf shops, the Stay Perfects varied all the time, because we had them scanned on SA tills, whereas the SS till scanned at £3.30??????????
BV then wanted to go to the West End, and I dragged my suitcase around so many branches, I can't think straight! She is worse than me, and struck up conversations with the SAs giving the Perkies at all the SS tills, and was always given one, and one for me!
In fact there were so many problems with SS tills breaking down, that at one I asked if we could have 2 Perkies as we'd been there so long, and the SA said "sure girls!"
Shops Eight & Nine (we both got)
Sumptuous Bath Soak £8.30 > £7.57
Less Perkie £2.57 (and I paid in 250 points as well)
And we each got a Vichy GWP (without the P!) and a Max Factor GWP (WTP)
Shops Ten, Eleven & Twelve (BV) SS tills
No 7 Foundation that went through at £5-ish and
She used a Perkie every time - so cost next to nothing
We each had Starbucks free coffee x 3 during the afternoon, and I got BV 3 of their cards - one for her, one for her DD, and one for her parents who are in their 90s, and have a walk and a coffee every afternoon.
We returned to CW and had a 2 for 1 in Prezzos, and BV insisted on paying, and we arranged our haul, and she also had 3 x Sanctuary minis and their accompanying GWPs, which she'd done herself at the SS tills, whilst I was looking for more Vichy sets - but they'd all gone.
I got home 10 hours after I'd started out, but what a great day! I also now have 7 Perkies, plus 4 New Extracts ACM vouchers, with the accompanying mag ones.
Dee & I are going to Covent Garden on Wednesday and Kingston on Friday, so the ol' card will get used no doubt!
BTW, loved the comment by Miss Marple, about her two skins!! :rotfl: Great shops by everyone, and have loved reading about them.

My mum has used these wax ear plugs for years and she is sure they have made her alittle deaf. They also seemed to make her ear hole larger!!!!0
