Slightly off topic but it does relate to products sold by stores like Boots. I bought some Grannys original pure gentle Soap Flakes to wash my cashmere jumpers last week. I had previously washed them in Lux soap flakes and they came out really well. Anyway I washed 4 jumpers and hung them out to dry. I brought them in and folded them to put away and left them in the kitchen. Later when I went to put them away I noticed they smelt of cooking fat. I thought it was because I had cooked some pork in the kitchen when they were in there. So I washed them again-same result!! Then last week I washed a scarf for my OH-same result and then yesterday a jumper of my daughter's and again same thing. I finally realised today that it must be the soap flakes. So I looked at the instructions and put some in a cup with hot water( it's says to do this and then pour into powder drawer when water is running in) I left it and when I went to look at it later it had set solid just like cooking fat that you would drain off from cooking meat or roasters!!
I looked on the box and it say they soap flakes are 90% soap. Am I being thick are soap flakes made from animal fat?? Any ideas what to do as both my cashmere sweaters stink of animal fat and i cant seem to get it out.

There are four different boxes for four different skin types and they are in a box with "Free travel kit" on it. The contents vary and I think the anti-wrinkle ("Liftactiv C + P" has the best sized samples).

Vichy kits not on .com, but found these on that auction site, all out of their boxes coz I suspect because it says "free." The contents are:

Thank you nine Tails, I really apprciate these pics.
And these go through as 0.00?

I will certainly keep my eyes skinned now. Cheers for searching for us :T :T :T

    snipped

    Quick google to explain soapmaking:

"The type of soap Grandma made is called “Cold Process” soap (commonly referred to as “CP” soap). It is made by combining fatty acids and sodium hydroxide (lye) together. Fatty acids can be almost any oil – from beef tallow to olive oil to hemp oil."

Could be the reason why?

Oh rose that's awful, who wants their clothes to smell like that. I have just seen bigmuffins reply so that could explain it.

What a waste of your time, effort and money. There are some old fashioned products that wont work today and this sounds like one them.

That is awful but I think bigmuffins did come up the the answer as to why the smell is there, googled and found this
An increasing number of cashmere knitwear manufacturers are producing cashmere that can be machine washed in a machine at up to 40 degrees. We do not recommend using a biological detergent and you should always check the garment's care label first to ensure that it is suitable for machine washing.
We have used Persil Silk & Wool (in the UK) with cashmere successfully on a wool wash in a machine at 30 degrees. There are now, however, many specialist cashmere care and wool washing products available

    And some tips here
This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

I loved the £5 off no7 voucher I got emailed from boots last year. There wasnt a limit to how many you could print so no having to buy £5 of essentials to get a voucher back. I think they were only meant to be emailed to a certain amount of people because not everyone got them if I remember correctly (a bit like the postal mailings)
Obviously this was quickly posted here at the time so everyone could benefit, as they had no name on of who they were sent to it was just a case of printimg dozens off and saying 'I got it in an email :D'

Oh it was great wasn't it. I posted that, and it was the first email/print off voucher that Boots did.

There was so many freebies with it then (before they put prices up.) The SA were amazed with it as they had never seen it before. I don't think Boots were prepared for just how many were used. I think I used .... a lot. Happy days
