Check our website for our new prices which will take effect from 30th March.

Even with the miserly 2.5% reduction, your gas remains competitively priced. Even with the (relatively) decent 9% reduction, your leccy remains largely uncompetitive. It's a real shame.

PS Are there any published figures to verify this claim on your site? I'd be interested in the criteria used to get to that savings figure.
We’ve saved households about (? - Ed) £1 million in total over the last year [2007] and we’d like to double that in 2008.

I take my gas from you and am a little disappointed by the 2.5% reduction.

The gas price was already very well priced which is why the reduction is 2.5%.

I'm currently comparing prices with other companies standard tariffs and we're up there with the Big Six, even on monthly direct debit in some regions.

You can find the actual prices for electricity by clicking here.

The new prices are on Energy Helpline if anyone wants to do a comparison.

Since, Penrhyn, you have already incorrectly suggested that Ebico is uncompetitive for electricity users with a low consumption (#6) I suspect it is more your arithmetic that is causing you disappointment.

I am pleased that Ebico are reducing their electricity prices, I posted the note advising caution prior to the news that the prices were coming down. I'll give my crystal ball a polish next time!

In my case Ebico are the most competitive supplier for gas by a 10% margin over n-power.
Assuming the rates have been updated as quoted they are 18% more expensive for me than BG Click 6, which is no longer available.

Just had a look at swithching gas and electric supplier.

The site gave its recomendations and what they think I will save.

Can you believe them and are they truely independant? Call me un trusting but thats exactly what I am.

Some charge a standing charge is that divided over the year?

    Am I a normal user I think approx 20000 kwh gas-5000kwh elec

    Cheers

I'd suggest using Energy Helpline as they show all the tariffs and rank them in order according to savings made - some show the companies they have a commercial relationship with at the top of the list.

We do not have a commercial relationship with Energy Helpline but they do still list us, however you can't switch directly through the site to us.

well after ebicos electric price reduction they are now the cheapest for me, in yorkshire with a preferred payment method of quarterly billing. (gas is also cheapest with them for me too)

scottish were the cheapest for electric untill ebico dropped there electric prices, but i still havent got the forms from them after 2 weeks plus waiting for them. glad i didnt receive the forms now - im just going to the ebico site to transfer my electric to them.

i know i can get it cheaper by paying dd elsewhere, but im more than happy now.

Re sites - I prefer to calculate by hand and use the sites as a guide.

Standing charge is usually by day afaik it certainly is with SP standard, quarterly billing.

Re 'normal user' hard to know without knowing more about the size of the house, how well insulated it is and how you use the energy. Certainly for a 3 bed semi it sounds about normal though electricity seems a bit high - imho.

Dropping the electricity price was a smart move with summer coming up I think.

    DD - likewise I don't fancy them.

Just got an email response from Ebico for online application - soon be there.:j
