I don't see the bad attitude here, she's just letting others know.
Although that being said, I would still pay a credit card knowing they would reduce the limit afterwards. Rather a reduced credit limit than high interest charges.

Sorry to sound snotty, but remember credit is a privilege not a human right.

who said anything about human rights!!!!!

credit makes money out of us so its not a privilege - its a money-making business

I am entitled to tell my story to everyone without your "snotty" comments, I assume you work in a bank or maybe married to one of the fat cats

I too never saw any attitude. Jees why can't people be allowed to give out what they think might be useful advice on here without the usual goon squad coming along and slating them for it.?. It is actually a very good bit of advice, i'm pretty sure there are many people being made redundant now with fairly good payouts who might be thinking of paying some card debts off to save interest and then keeping them for an emergency etc. They might be totaly unaware that increasingly the card companies might well lower their limit in accordance with the amount they pay off thus leaving them without the card to use for whatever reason should the need arise.

    oh is that so?

so in your perfect world - you have no debts - you then think you can judge and look down on people who post looking for advice or support

obviously we took the options of taking out credit cards when the banks were shoving them in our faces every week and yes it was our choice

bringing up kids sometimes surprises you with unexpected expenses and yes we may use the credit cards when we shouldn't but that is life

as far as I know this is a consumer site where we share our experiences not run the gauntlet of stuffy narrow-minded people

It is your own fault for having to pay interest per month!! If you paid in full each month, then you wouldn't have to pay interest!!

of course, I am a wicked woman and should be punished - how dare I not pay off my credit card each month - anyone who uses a credit card as a "credit" card have only themselves to blame

thanks for your helpful comments :D

"There's no such thing as a stupid question".

Sure, hackneygirl may have problems, sure, maybe she could have avoided some of them... but if she needs our support as a community, lets give it to her.

I, for one, admire the fact that she can admit where she stands, and is looking for a positive resolution.

Dont pick on her - she has not said owt that warrants it. Remember it could off been you doing her post.
  • Reading through the smoke and mirrors, the sob story that you always get as opposed to just the facts, the COOP have reduced her credit limit which is happening a lot in the current economic climate. This may well be annoying but they can do this and they do. However instead of a debate the OP rants about it, then gets corrected by some others, then OP throws the toys out of the pram.

hey thanks clio and everyone else on here who have been supportive and given me good advice :A

didn't realise there were so many perfect debt-free people on here:confused:

instead of giving good advice they seem to "get off" on name-calling to put off any other people who are in debit and want advice

one of them thinks it can tell me to use capital letters and full stops in my posts - why should I?

actually I am saving them all up like a good girl

I think you haven't quite seemed fully through the smoke. She never wanted a debate. Her post was to warn others what might/probably happen if they pay a large chunk of the card debt off. Most people would think along the same lines of Hackneygirl by doing that very thing totally unaware that while they are thinking they might be doing themselves a favour interest wise, the later fallback cusion of still having the same limit on the card probably won't be there. It was simply a warning of what COULD happen and nothing else.
