After reading your posts yesterday, I was inspired to do an inventory of my storecupboard - OMG!! I cannot believe the amount of tins/packets I have!
Altough I always do a list when I go shopping, I am very guilty of picking up tins at random esp if theyre reduced! So NO buying tins for me a couple of months! I am challenging myself to use them in interesting ways!!!!!
You have saved me a fortune -so thanks!:T
Have a great day everyone!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Well I thought that I would be able to make it this month after finding all my tesco vouchers but I've just done 2 small shops in asda this week and last which has put me about a tenner over budget. But I'm not too bothered as I still have my vouchers to use!
Don't think I need much more this month. Just a top up shop and that should be me done.
Still need to do my inventory of the cupboads & freezer but just seem to have had no time last week! I'm pretty busy this week too but have a night off on Wednesday so may make it my task for the evening! ha ha0 -

I did the same thing last week and couldn't believe how much we had in our cupboards too! We haven't had a big shop since then, I just pick up what we need to compliment what's already in the cupboard to make dinners.
Today was another spend day I'm afraid, but only for milk, bread and cream. We shouldn't need anything else until the end of the week. Still under budget and 7 days left to go! :jDebt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32
Debt now 01/03/2009 - $63,194.72

Well, I'm well within my limit for the month at the mo, but my lack of planning is letting me down! I'd planned the weekends meals, but Saturday we ended up having a big late lunch, so didn't need dinner, then Sunday we got invited to a friends for dinner, so no cooking again. Tonight we're out for a meal (using Tesco deals vouchers) and we have a pile of veg in the fridge staring at me accusingly every time I go in there!!
I set my budget quite high for the month as a first time, but I can certainly see why we spend so much - it's all the last-minute plan changes, so I'm forever binning things that were bought for a specific meal that never happened.
Not quite sure how to change this - I just never know what I'm doing from one day to the next. I'm in awe of all you organised MSE's!!:D0 -

I buy a lot of frozen veg to save on waste, but also buy a fair amount on Whoopsie specifically to freeze for future use.
And we rarely have meat that hasn't been into the freezer between the shop and my cookerCheryl0 -
Someone keep me out of the shops! I went back to MrS's and returned the tumeric for the cumin the chilli recipe actually called for, and I picked up some sour cream, spinach, bananas, a can of chopped tomatoes, and some chocolate.
Just as an aside, the can of chopped tomatoes today was to replace the one I'm putting in the chilli tonight, bought probably in october last year. The sell by date on the new one is Sept 2010... and on the old one it's Dec 2010! Further proof that we should just ignore best before dates!0 -
Afternoon all. Still playing catch-up as things so hectic here and now I have a chest infection so really not up to my best. Felt too poorly to make a birthday/anniversary cake yesterday so bought what I thought was a really nice one. Yuk Yuk Yuk ......so dry and cardboardy (should have made it myself like I usually do) but I think I might write and complain or something as it was a total waste of money:mad:
Our DS1 and his OT gave us an Anniversary gift basket of HM Blueberry Breakfast Muffins.....they were soooo lovely and I need to get the recipe for them. Just pondering about what to make for St Patrick's Day tomorrow as DH is from Ireland and it is the Anniversary of when we first met 38 years ago (bit sentimental) we would have liked to marry on 17th March but 15th was the nearest we could get and also DMs birthday. So if anyone has any good cheapish idea's.....thank you in advance.
I spent £1 yesterday on 4 muller rice/yoghurts from MrA. Thought that was a good buy. Unfortunately budget is now rapidly disappearing......can I make it to the end of the month
Keep up the good work everyone!!!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
