After the whole family has been ill with flu and colds, we are already way over budget. From now on it is damage control!:eek::eek:

PS: I am already sorting DS (3) 4th birthday party... His birthday is not until July!! :o
Can anyone suggest some Picnic Party food??? The theme is Dinosaurs.

Also he will start school in September, so I have to sort out a "Schultuete" - a very german tradition. It will be filled with little things......

Hi all just popping in to update sig - otherwise I fear I will fall by the wayside - budget-wise that is! Total is now slightly increased although i have had 4 NSDs this week:D I really wanted to get some F&V shopping today but made do with what we had in veg wise in the end to go with the chicken..... made 'crushed potatatoes' & a very few carrots & some frozen peas. Twas OK really, but I definitely have to get some shopping tomorrow!

Does anyone know which supermarket has the cheapest strong wholemeal flour for breadmaking please? .....I've finally run out & am using up the Hovis mixes I got but they don't make a decent sized loaf in my BM. :rotfl:

    Morning All,

After the weekend and a visit to Mr A, not doing to bad. Only spent £19.10.

Have a pork casserole in the slow cooker tonight - leftover pork from last sunday in bottom of freezer, plus odds from the frozen veg.

Lunch today is Ham sarnies from the ham & cherry coke - yummy.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all

Well -hubby is on duty today -so won't be back until about 10am tomorrow, so no meals as such to be done today and no packed lunch as he gets fed in the cookhouse :D
He is off work tomorrow in lieu -so hopefully he will get some more humping n dumping done in the garden for me :T .... wednesday he is away playing hockey -so no food to be done again then either ....oooohhhhh it all helps with the budget ;)

I was re-sorting my veggie seeds last night ready to make a start (if it ever warms up  ) and I really do have more than I thought -anyone got a bit of garden I can borrow :rotfl:

I have been "good" so far and have only demolished 2 kilo oranges and about 8 apples -since saturday lunch time :o :rotfl: .....I really can't leave fruit alone...roll on summer :p
I can't see us needing anything bar lettuce before next weekend -however there are some bits coming on offer later this week -4 kilo potatoes €1.19 -so I may get hubby to get a couple of nets on his way home from work this friday .... they will keep in a sack in the cellar -and we do use loads of them... we could live on jackets, cottage cheese n salad:D
right I had better get off and get a cuppa....
Hope everyone is getting off to a good start...

Morning everyone - hope you all had a good weekend.;)

Only planning to buy Bananas today but will need to shop tomorrow for a few more bits and will also need to have another trip to the Butchers. Had a Shoulder of Pork yesterday from the Butchers, cooked it following Jamie Oliver's recipe from the Save our Bacon programme, the crackling came out better than anything ever before and the Pork was melt in the mouth. The joint was huuuuuuge so Curry tonight with some of the Leftovers but I reckon there is enough there to feed us another 4 meals of 4 so I have put the remainder in the Freezer and have been looking up lots of different Leftover Pork ideas, stir fry, sweet & sour, pasties etc so really pleased with my purchase.:D

    Have a good day everyone.;)

    Hello,

    Picnic party food ideas-
How about sandwiches cut into dinosaur shapes (using cookie cutters maybe?) or shaped like dinosaur eggs. You could have sandwiches for carnivores and herbivores.
Cheese snacks like the cheesestrings or babybels.
Or snack foods like nachos (19p a bag at tescos) and salsa (tesco cool salsa is good, not spicy and less expensive than doritos).
Cadbury mini eggs could definitely be used on top of the cake or cookies for a dinosaur theme..might want to stock up during the after-easter sales?

Hmmm...the dinosaur theme is tough! I hope this is a little helpful!

    Morning all.

Got a bit of a surprise yesterday. Was having a bit of a clear out of paperwork and found almost £10 worth of tesco vouchers!!!!!!
Luckily they are all still in date so that means I'll be able to buy more fresh products without going over budget this month!
Althought it has given me more of a wake up call about getting more organised!
As a result I'm just about to sit down and write a meal plan for this week!

Tescos has their own brand wholemeal flour for 1.19 for 1.5kg; sainsburys has their own brand wholemeal flour for 99p for 1.5kg....

That cookie cutter could be used to shape pizza or cookies too! You can get chicken nuggets in a dinosaur shape to dip in ketchup. Twiglets or Pretzel sticks and call them bones! You could get dinosaur theme boxes (like the ones that fast food come in at the burger shops) from party shops or if your lucky the pound shops. Sounds like fun.
