    Hello all!!

Well, I left my stew in the slow cooker overnight so I assume it's now cooked but I thought the stock would thicken into a nice sauce....what am I doing wrong? :(

You don't need as much liquid in a slow cooker as you would cooking on the hob or even in the oven - don't forget you added a bottle of red wine too:o (If I cook a whole chicken I don't even need to add liquid as it produces its own juices and makes loads of stock). One batch of stuff in mine produces enough for the family meal for 2 adults and 2 kids, and probably enough to freeze for an extra portion or two.

Was there an instruction/recipe book with it - maybe try one of the simpler recipes they provide and see how it goes - it that fails, maybe it's that the slow cooker's faulty.....

I tend to add cornflour to thicken if it's still too liquid.

Have you had a look at the slow cooker thread on the Old Style board, they're the reason I dug mine out again....:rotfl:
