Thanks, I will try making less, but I thought the point was you make a big batch, enough for several days?

Also, how do you get the stock to thicken in general? I use cornflour in gravy at times but I don't know here....I've only used my slow cooker twice!!
Its fine making that big batch, as long as you bear in mind the cooking time, hence the 17hrs.

I just use thickening granules(cornflour) to thicken, if i use stock cubes for the stock to cook it in , i sometimes add in vegetable or beef gravy granuales to thicken and to add flavour.

How long 17 hours:eek: dam was there anything left!!!!!:rotfl:
Wouldnt you of been better of with a pot on the stove, I make a greek dish very simmila and the meats go in first take around 3-4 hours on a medium to high heat I would add all the veg for the last hour and the spinish in the final 10 min. If you had two pints of stock and a bottel of red wine I would say its just to much liquid I would fast boil untill it reduces and the pateoes should act as natural thickners as well. Next time I would also toss the meat in a little flour before frying with the onion then adding the stock, this also helps thicken the sause..

Yesterday I did like a bean cassarole type thing (greek dish), fried the onion, carrot and cellary added 2 tins of tomato and 2 patoes, boil well till all cooked then add white beans and heat through serve with warm crusty bread and a raw onion or spring onion....:D

Just about to make some more spinish and feta pie wrapped in filo pastry...
I made them the other day and OH has been asking for more..

Sorry food obessed again, :o, (I just cant help it)

  • I think there's something wrong my slowcooker; just eating a portion of the casserole; the meat isn't that tender, and the veg is raw. !!!!!!?! It's hot and everything but I don't know what the problem is and don't relish a 6 mile round-trip to exchange the slow cooker if I need to....
