I use the carwash next to the independent garage in Wolverton, on Stratford Road (opposite the Police station). They've always got cars of varying marques in line for a wash and valet, and if someone's going to trust their expensive Merc with the guys, then my runaround is more than safe there.

Thanks.....any idea on the sort of costs I can expect?? never had a full valet, but I think my car deserves it. 110k from new and under 5 years old.

Think a wash & vac starts from £15, up to a full valet around £50 but I'm doing that from memory...... depends what you have (4x4s are slightly more due to their size!)

I don't feel so bad about my 5.5yr old 60k tin now ;-)

we were in the lego store yesterday, and they had a few good reduced items, lego star wars t shirts down to £3.50, lego erasers from £1.95 to 49p and magnets from £3.99 to 97p, and some very cute kitchen scales from £17 to £4.40 in the shape of a lego man head..

When you say a full valet, do you mean done by the local polish hand wash place, or do you mean a full detail. i.e. All plastics dressed, car washed - clayed - waxed, paint correction etc....

If you just want a full hand wash thing I like the one over at Daytona raceway. they do a good job and a full interior and exterior valet is £15 for a large car (bmw 3/5 series, merc etc...).

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a full detail, depending on if you want paint correction or not to remove swirl marks you could be takling anywhere from £90-£600 depending on how many hours work is needed.

If you are after a full detail, drop me a PM. I know a few local detailers that would give you a quote.

Wow, never thought there was so much to it. Its not just a car wash I want, but I cant afford £600 either. :D I was looking in the £50-£80 range to be fair.

    Thanks

Welcome to the world of car detailing :p My advice would be to go here: http://detailingworld.co.uk/ and have a look at some of the work done on there.

For the £50-£80 range you could easily get a full valet interior and exterior, and a good carnuba wax applied which would protect the paint for a long time, it would look stunning too.

I have a friend that runs Prosheen. They do great work and are mobile so they can come to wherever you are. Had a look on his website, and a full valet costs about £75-£95. This includes:

    Exterior Wash/Wax & Rinse
    Liquid Wax Treatment Applied
    Engine Bay Cleaned On Request
    Screen Wash Top Up
    Leather Dry
Door and Boot Shut Polished & Cleaned
Ash Trays Cleaned & Litter Removed
    Vacuum Interior (Including Boot Area)
Interior Fascia & Vinyl’s Cleaned And Dresses
Upholstery, Head Lining & Carpets Shampooed
Leather Cleaned, Fed & Supplement Applied
    Interior De-Odorised
    Exterior Trims Dressed
    Paint Work Hand Polished
High Definition Protective Carnauba Wax Applied

It's a pretty good price for what you get really. I would have a word with him though and make sure he clays the paintwork prior to polishing. It might also be worth having a look on detailing world though and seeing if there are other car valeters in the local area.

I know Terry at cardoctoronline is local and also mobile, and I've heard good things about him, but I've never personally used him.

Do any of you have a local paper? If so, are there any adverts for one man bands who draw up simple extension plans for planning permission? Don't want to pay the earth for an architect. Please could you list names and phone numbers? Not getting too far on Yell.com

    Thanks.

    Thank you.

Is he an architect or just someone who draws plans and deals with the council? Have you used him yourself?

Hi, I have worked for him in the past as he has carried out some developments in the past, he is not an architect but has a lot of experience in planning matters as he has specialised in difficult planning constraints. He is very capable with any planning or building control issues and often deals wih the council. Rob is a genuine guy, give him a ring and have a chat, that costs nothing! If you want further info give me a ring on 07970410183 as I am a builder and can advise if necessary
    .Regards Ian
