I want a New ISP ! HELP

Hi
I use https://www.plus.net and they are a fantastic provider, always up and no limits for £18.99 month... when I decided to go with them I used a broadband comparison site and their whole service seemed to stand high above the rest.0 -
I don't use hardly any gb at all. So usage wasn't a factor for me. I just wanted the best for my 18 odd quid. I would have gone for zen if i wanted to download loads as they are rated highly aswell.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Plusnet are very strict about their limits. They slow your connection down if you download over 30GB a month, and certain types of traffic are slowed down every day for all users during peak periods.
Plusnet are OK for normal internet surfing, but not the ISP to choose of you want to download a lot.
Probably the best ISP in the UK at the moment is Zen. They are truly unlimited and they dont use any form of traffic shaping to slow downloads (very very rare nowadays). I have not even had a minutes downtime or slowdown since I joined them about a year ago. They are dearer than a lot of ISPs, but you get what you pay for with this company. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I agree you definately get what you pay for. I feel sorry for all these people that are with the "popular" isp's. The customer service is usually terrible and your always have to call a premium rate phone number. The smaller my isp is the better.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi
Thats why I joined f2s, their Connectplus package is really excellent, uncapped and if you download between 1am and 6am its not counted against you, all for £24.99 which I though was very reasonable.
But just my luck I moved over to them when Pippex took them over and they've been having a lot of trouble since, speeds for a lot of people have certaintly dipped.
Although I must say in all fairness, my download speeds are maxed out all the time, its just that my browsing is so slow.
So I'm just slowly cruising and looking until I find another one that suits me, no rush at the moment though.0 -

I'm in exactly the same situation. Joined back in November, just as things went bad
We're stuck on LLU, but are being regraded back to Ip-Stream, so I can then get a MAC code, and leave for Eclipse. Speeds aren't too bad tonight on f2s although for the last two weeks I haven't been able to browse during peak hours. It's been slower than dial up.
So basically be warey if thinking of choosing f2s. They are in the process of fixing things, but I'd wait until it's properly sorted."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Hi
I just wondered if you can understand why my browsing is so slow and yet my download speed is absolutely fine, because it baffles me. I just don't understand why I can get one and not the other, unless its something that I could do at my end to speed up my browsing.
I'd rather have the fast downloads but if I could I'd rather have both, greedy me!!!!!
I keep going to the f2s forum, hoping to read things are getting better, and for some I think they have, I just hope they keep improving.0 -
No idea. I know they were traffic shaping, but surely that'd improve browsing and reduce downloads."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
