Depending on where you're calling from, a very good option for calling home can be to use a web based phone in an Internet club / cyber caff. I've been using this option on recent visits to Bulgaria, where satellite Internet is commonplace, and paying 7p or 8p a minute to UK landlines via a connection that has no lag whatsoever and that 95% of the time is crystal clear. On the odd occasion when it does cut off you can just redial and get straight back through, even at peak time.
No card or prepay required, you just occupy a nice little private phone booth (nope, not a PC terminal with headphones!) and pay at the end for what you've used.0 -
Hi
Thank you for this wonderful site, I have not been off the PC since I found you, I am sure there are a lot of people out there (including me) that will be eternally grateful for all your hard work! I have just been on the site you recommend for buying phone cards and the code has expired. Are you still dealing with this site and if there is another code available , could you use it on a £10.24 purchase? Thank you again.

Thanks for your reply. That would be great if I was going but alas I am not
It will be my son and my friend and her son. So I wanted to buy a phone card for them to call home and rub our noses in it about the wonderful time that they will be having
. But thank you anyway    Timberlake Hussy Clique Member No 3  :drool:0 -
I am travelling to Lanzarote next week, and being a keen devotee of this site visited 1st4phonecards. But they do not list either Lanzarote or the Canaries. However they were very helpful on the phone and asked me to email in my requirements.0

I was looking for Tenerife, phoned them up and they say you just use Spanish access numbers. Should be the same for all of the Canaries.0

Is there a sim you can buy that can make cheap mobile to mobile calls in SPAIN (both parties in SPAIN) so that we can use our mobiles to keep in touch with different members of our group?0
-
In France we just went to a supermarket - a big Carrefour and bought an orange sim card Euro 30 c/w E5 credit and put some more credit on it. I imagine you can do the same in Spain??0

Hmm, thanks for this link, but I'm not sure it's the best value option.
I'm going on a cruise, planning to make short calls home to UK from France, Spain, Italy, Malta and Tunisia.
The best for France, Spain and Italy is the Millennium one, but they only sell twin packs - over £19 for two €15 cards, with 10% deductable every 20 days, which is more than I intended to pay.
They charge over 64 cents per minute surcharge for using a payphone in Italy. That was why I looked at them, since so few payphones now take coins.
Also, it doesn't cover Malta or Tunisia - these were covered by 1st4phonecards using eCallBack technology, where you give them a number and they ring back. I don't fancy standing in a phone box waiting for a call!
I'll check for other cards in shops and travel agents, or stick to using mobile, email, and finding payable phone booths in post offices, etc, unless anyone has any better ideas. I was told Lunn Poly did a good card - has anyone tried it?
Thanks !0
