Find an internet cafe and send people e-mail instead. It's a lot cheaper, and I don't have to listen to my Mam telling me what the weather is like back home and other stuff I don't want to know

Thanks, Becles, but I have to ring someone without email or mobile!

Thomson's and Thomas Cook both do £10 cards which can be used in lots of countries. The Post Office card has a surcharge if you use a phonebox.

Does anyone know of any better ones to use in phoneboxes in several countries? Thanks.

Do any other countries have the cheap carriers that do the same for domestic calls from abroad to the UK as the Callchecker does for calls from the UK?

Here is an article about Finarea which provide many of the cheap numbers found in UK and abroad.

  • I'm afraid the 10% discount code isn't working. I have proceeded regardless as it seems a good deal and I am only needing to make a few calls on Christmas day so the finer differences between the schemes is neither here nor there for me - but just thought I should let people know.

  • I paid £10 for a phonecard on the 1st4phonecards.com website on 21st May and I'm still waiting for them to email me my card/pin number 1 week later. They don't answer my phone calls. I'm now back at home after my trip abroad, for which the card was intended.
