The council might offer help with a dividing wall, but no 2 bed proeprty is available.Mummy to

There are just not enough Council properties to go round any more because people have bought them, so the priorities have had to change.
When I first got married in the early 1970s we got a choice of two, two-bedroom flats , we had no children. We chose one and lived in it for two years.
No chance of us getting anything at all if we were starting out now!
And to the OP, as people have said, your neighbour may not even have registered on the Council list, she may not even want to move and even if she does I do not think she will be priority as she will have an adequate roof over her head.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

tell me what states as over crowding?
how many are allowed in 1 large bedroomed 1 small bedroomed property these days ?
different councils seem to have different rules
I live in Wales have a child of each sex, youngest has special needs was given a 2 bed council house when eldest was 7 and youngest 1 and told I wasn't eligible for 3 bed until eldest was 10, lasted 2 years but the eldest was having so much trouble at school and sleeping because of youngests problems, I bought a house with ex that is now crippling me financially!0 -
Thanks for the info bambammy
Viktory - you want to try living here, our street is private residential housing, other neighbours have moaned about how unfriendly these people are. they have already had a good swear at some neighbours in the back to back to street here when he was asked not to rev his motorbike round there.
Ive been happy in my little house since 1994 until these idiots moved here in 2007, I had 3 wks of non stop banging until they moved in, then they split up and he would come round so they could both have a good shout and swear in front of the kids, he would turn up 4am banging on the door, then back at 9am to continue the argument.
She screamed and shouted at the kids all day. I put up with it till I was worried about the kids, I stopped the mother in law and told her & she refused to get involved -nice granny she is.
anyway, I presume they are claiming LHA because when I spoke to the private landlord of the property she said the council would rehome them with a 3rd child. Which is ok for the LL as she has a few properties and prob means she would rent them a 3 bed. But I think something dodgy as the LL asked if 'he' was living here.
Theres money somewhere as they have plasma tv, all new wood floors and other jobs even before they moved in, he has 2 vehicles, 1 motorbike and he works. So they are not the victims you are thinking they are Viktory0 -

Nice quiet evenings in the garden for you this summer!!0 -
I live in a private rent small terrace with one double and one single room. Me, OH, two boys (4 and 2) and a baby due any moment, but was told by council we arent eligible for housing until the baby is at least a year old as it is presumed the baby rooms in with its parents. this despite the fact that the "double bedroom" just about fits a double bed in it and no room for a cot.

The tenants are so noisy, esp after laying wooden floors, plus she shouts at the children all time.
We have very small 2 bed terraces, houses have 1 double bedroom and 1 single bedroom, next door to me lives a couple with 2 girls - 8?yrs old & 3 yrs old. New baby arrived december 08.
When I complained to the unhelpful landlord last year I was told the council would rehome 'her' when new baby arrives. I was also asked if 'he' is living here. I presume she -on paper is entitled to LHA
So if the council would rehome - how long would it take/when would I expect this please?
pretty please
Maybe your next lot of neighbours will be worse!
Have you tried chatting with her....explain that the sound echoes and just see what she says.
The council wouldnt re-house her unless she gets evicted and not on purpose. A 2 bed house sounds perfect for them and is suitable for their needs.
You are making alot of assumptions with no evidence (claiming as a single person etc).....how is this relevant to your problem?
If you really cant take it anymore, could you not move to another property?

penny pincher I did ask the idiot last year could she please stop shouting for just one day and she told me to P**s off, in front of her young children so I figure a chat would be out of the question.
and why do people suggest I move? I bought this house almost 15yrs ago and have enjoyed it until the scum family rented next door, anyway theyve gone, so Im not complaining,
I think evidence of her claiming to be single would be sufficed by the landlady asking me if 'he' was living there, and the landlady said the council would rehome her with additional baby.0
