Sorry, only just saw your posting. I thought Leicester would be too far:
No. 2084: LEN
SAFE: Len has a rescue space secured.
Retriever, male, approximately 6-9 months old. He is golden in colour, is medium in size and appears to be in an OK condition. Len is a very bouncy and friendly chap who is a little nervous the other dogs barking at the Pound.
He will going to a rescue in Leicestershire on Monday 2nd March 2009 if he is not claimed.http://www.rochdale-dog-rescue.com/urgentdogs.html

Thank you Hethmar, he looks a lovely boy and can't believe that he hasn't been missed.
Looking at his picture he looks more like a Lab rather than a Goldie. It was a Goldie or a flat coated Retriever that I was looking to rehome.
I have previously looked at Lizzie's Barn and do look daily as she has previously had Goldie's for rehoming.
I am prepared to travel if it means I am saving a doggie.
Thank you so much for spending the time to reply to my quest.0 -
Ill carry on looking for you. Lots of dogs arent "missed" WPC, even those with a chip - the registered person will say they sold "last year" or whatever to a man in a pub when you contact them
Im surprised if the girls have got the wrong breed as there are a few centuries worth of dog owners among them who actually see the poundies.
Have a look at the website.0 -
No I know how cruel some people are. I've just read the post on the builder who allegedly murdered the cat and cannot believe somone would be have like this. They do say that people who injure/kill animals go onto kill humans.
Back to my post.... I believe that you can get Lab retrievers and golden retrievers. I think the only difference is their fur length. Goldie's have more fur : )0 -
Thank you so much, this is something I have heard about and very interested in. Would be happy to pay the £200 as I know it would be put to good use.
If I got another dog I'd definitely go to Guidedogs again. They do have waiting lists but it was well worth the wait. My boy looks like a very tall lab with a goldie's head (& brain so Guidedogs said to me LOL). He's a beautiful looking dog & commented on & admired wherever we go. He's got a short coat which i find is so much easier to keep clean after muddy walks....everything just comes off on the towel!
I've had two goldie's before, not many differences between them & one crossed with a lab. The other advantage is that as a crossbreed, my pet insurance is cheaper - surprising really & very moneysaving! :rotfl:0 -
