    BUT i am due to start my maternity leave on the 4th December and plan to take the whole 12 months off work, can the official reciever still taqke money from us whilst i am getting materninty pay, as the only income will be my husbands and we will only have enough money to survive on.

    No, you won't have to continue paying. As soon as you know what your maternity pay is let the OR know, your IPA will then be suspended, but the missing 12 months will still count towards your 36 months, so when you go back to work you have to tell them your new wage again and pay the remaining months.

  • Thank you peachyprice, with my husbands income being the main source of income when i go on maternity leave will his IPA also be suspended as we would not have enought left over income to pay his either untill i return to work.

    Yes it should be if your lack of earnings takes his surplus below £99.

    Make sure you ask for new IPOQ forms to fill in for both of you, once you're on maternity leave your contribution on his will form be very little, so it should wipe out his IPA.
