Morning everyone, today I will be finding out how much the MOT is gonna cost me, I am a bit dubious about some of the items. Normally I take the cars to the local council testing centre, you know because of the risk that the garage is gonna fleece you for repairs that dont necessarily need doing but because Im travelling back down South again on Sat I aint got the time to take it anywhere else plus the MOT has expired and obviously cant drive it anywhere until it has passed. I remember just about 10 months ago, the lad I normally take it to, told me to get rid of the car because it was getting to the age where things will start going wrong and will cost a lot of money to fix. Back then he did a couple of jobs for free so I could sell it. ANyway, I ebayed it and wasnt getting anywhere near what I should have got for it (Its a big engined diesled car and fuel prices where through the roof and getting higher plus new road tax prices had had just been announced and it wasn't good for my cars! and lots of 4x4s and big engined cars were seriously devalued and still are) so I decided to keep it. I told him this and offered to pay for the jobs and he said dont be daft so I bought him some beer to say thank you anyway. But since then I have grown increasingly guilty about this and havent been in touch for some time which is unusual cause normally I would phone up just for a chat and I have taken him and his mates to 'my place of work' to show them round. He's an Audi specialist and a really good lad, honest an all. I should have taken it to him and perhaps I wouldnt be facing the bill that I am now! I should have listened eh. In fact the other car has an oil leak from a job he did a few months ago (timing belt) and it has developed an oil leak associated with the belt change, and I won't take it back because of the above and the car that is getting the MOT done today had a similar problem and it took him literally months of chasing the problem until he found it and I think its the same thing on the other car. Again he didnt charge me for it and I keep asking the wife to take it back to him whilst Im down South. I am avoiding him arent I. Oh what a t!t I am.
Anyway strange dreams about me eh Sall! You will be giving me your mobile number next
I love falling alseep on the sofa and have on several occasions, rolled over cause Im so comfy

I didn't, actually. Lol, isn't that cheating? I'll tell you one thing I don't think I could give up, caffiene, that would be so hard. Smoking goes without saying, but I'm always surprised how uppity I get after a few days without caffiene.
Sundays are excluded as they are Holy days and cause for celebration.
I will still abstain from the broc though.:rolleyes:0 -
Oh yes and am thinking of Luc too, hope its hereThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

good luck with the MOT Lenny.
I have been reading the newsletter this morning. I can get about £20 for a phone I've just found in a drawer but I can't find the charger! :eek:0 -
Morning all - hope you all have a good Wednesday!
Been awake since about 5am.. yawn, came into work early but feel like going back to bed now.
I've been thinking about giving up caffeine, but I've tried it before and ohhh the headaches  Although having weighed myself this morning and discovered I've put back on all the weight I lost through running I think I'll be having a 'giving up unhealthy rubbish' sort of time insteadDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Bookie,
Glad you are coming to Manchester.
I don't think you need the chargers for mobiles when you sell them, at least I hope not as I have one I am selling and I don't have the foggiest where the charger is! lolEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Lenny,
Positive thinking mate, positive thinking!!!
I am thinking of postponing my hypnotherapy for tonight as I have so much I need to do...Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Good idea, redsquirrel, I'd probably pick a couple of definite lent items so if you have an unhealthy snack or two that never do anyone any harm, then you can still feel like you're on Lent.
Lenny - Majorly sucks about the car, my bro-in-law is always having problems with his. But he does a skill swap with the local mechanic (Matt's a carpenter) and they have a good thing going. Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.
