Getting number plates made

Right...well I'm glad you've got a garage that will ignore the smaller things on the MOT. The info I gave the OP is based on law and I feel it's better that she does things by the book rather than have to fork out twice if her garage fails her!!

i think the likelyhood of failing is very slim, also this was at three different garages including a council run depot

Depends on how reputable the garage is I suppose. I was failed once for have a letter on my numberplate 5mm out of alignment....However I didnt get on with the garage as their service and supply was shoddy but had no choice under terms of contract to go there and get MOT done!! So I suppose I'm over cautious now.....
