I got my flights from Inverness to London to New York £255 return March last year (2nd till 9th) with my local travel agents in Wick, Scotland (Arcade Travel!!) was amazed, all in all for this week holiday it worked out to be roughly £550 pp, even came home with unspent money!!!
i think the fuel levys may have put a stop to fares like that for the moment >>>worst luck !!
  • i can't spend the time searching for you but
continental airlines have direct flights glasgow to newark
leave glasgow thu 4th may return mon 15th may ...£385.30 each all taxes included

i haven't played around with the dates as i don't have time sorry

just playing around briefly if you are still interested in niagara falls ???

same flight as above to and from states but instead flying back on the last day ...buffalo to newark then glasgow is £426.70 . ( just over an hour between connecting flights but your luggage would be checked through ) ....so just got to find a one way trip up to the falls ...coach , car hire even budget airline . depends what you want to do ( i've driven too many times from new york city up to buffalo so i was glad of doing a trip similar to the last selection of mine, but i flew back from rochester )

just another angle of the very many you will look at !!

we looking at going to the usa next yr sometime. daughter will be 12 then .. she wants to see nyc, hollywood, sanfranciso (but could miss this one) washington, would love the idea of seeing niagra .. my daughter is a huge bratz fan so might not see much of nyc apart from the stores lol.. going to look into all this later in the yr ..
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

i love NYC but i can't see what you could do for a full fortnight. or i suppose i should say with a fortnight to spend in north eastern usa why would you want to limit yourself to just staying in NYC ? even if you didn't want to drive there's loads of cheap internal flights , deals on amtrak , greyhound buses. as a minimum i'd go to washington if this was my 1st visit and even though i've seen niagara falls numerous times now it still amazes me to see them ( combine that with a quick trip up to toronto ).
i'm being unfair if that's your thing but i personally couldn't recommend spending 14 days in NYC to a stranger ...hope that doesn't offend

Not offended at all, I have a thing for big cities, and to be honest 2 weeks is never enough in NYC for me. There is more than enough to see/do and buy to keep me occupied, but I do see your point re recommending to a stranger.
Next on the list this year is Buenos Aires.
